IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS IS NOT A CHARGER AND IS *NOT* ADVERTISED AS ONE. You can plug your phone in while it's on this stand if you have an outlet/port nearby, but if you need a stand that also charges wirelessly this will not work for you. This works well enough for my needs, which is to hold my phone next to my computer when I'm on a call and working. It's easy to put together. It's subtle and tucks out of the way on the corner of my desk. I don't extend it often, but it seems sturdy enough when fully extended that you won't have to worry about the phone causing it to slip back down. I think a small pin to lock it into place would give it extra security. It extends tall enough that I would be able to place it behind my laptop flat on the desk and still be able to show up on a video call and see about half the phone screen. I have an angled ergonomic riser for my laptop that lifts the back about 3" and while the front facing camera lens can see me, I can't see the phone screen behind my laptop, even when fully extended. I have a 5" monitor shelf built onto my desk, and when it sits on that, the whole phone is visible when fully extended. I have not had any issues with my phone not staying put. The magnet is plenty strong enough to hold my phone in its MagSafe case. It's not the most stable, even when it's not extended. I think a heavier base to counteract the weight of the iPhone would work better. All assembled the whole unit weighs about half as much as my iPhone in its mag case. If it gets bumped and the phone is positioned straight forward or slightly downward, it will fall over. Also, I wish they had put some kind of non-magnetic covering over the top of the base. I have other magnetized accessories for my iPhone, and one got stuck to the metal base and would not budge. I had to push it toward the edge of the base with a flathead screwdriver until there was enough room for me to grab it and pry it off. I think a rubberized coating or even a non-magnetic metal (like aluminum) layer on the top of the base would help prevent other magnetic accessories from getting stuck.
