This is a very well made device stand. I'm rather impressed with the quality of materials and craftsmanship in such a simple item. The stand is made all out of thick, heavy-duty, real wood boards. While they do have the appearance of boards that might be comprised of many smaller wood pieces fitted together, it is still real wood and not particle board. In fact, it's quite heavy for it's size, just like real wood boards will be. The stand is very easy to use. There is a wood piece hinged in the back with several grooves cut into it. There is also a rod in the back that props the stand up during use. This rod is made of metal. While not overly thick, it still feels weighty and strong. Just slip the metal rod into a groove on the wood piece to prop the stand up into the desired position. As long as this rod isn't bumped or removed from the groove, then it will stay that way. In the front of the stand, at it's bottom, there is a shelf. It swings on hinges rather than being set in permanent position. That's alright, nothing wrong with that. It's well attached and works fine. I do prefer the fixed position, though, for that specific type of shelf. Either way, that is where the user's device or book is meant to rest during use. There are 2 curved metal pieces attached to that shelf too, apparrently to help keep items from slipping. Items could still get bumped off it easy enough, though, so do be mindful of that. This book stand is made of solid bamboo. It is heavy enough to support a heavy textbook on top without issues. There are two spring-loaded arms at the bottom to hold the pages for some books that are hard to keep open by themselves. The bottom plate can accommodate a thick book easily. The size of the stand is the right size for one book. The tilting angle can be easily adjusted with a metal bar at the back. It is a heavy-duty item but does not take up as much space than the size of a book. It is so much easier reading a book with this stand. This is a really nice book stand. I use this mainly with my iPad for reading or playing games or watching stuff. It works really well for my use case and looks really nice and sturdy too. For the price, this is a great deal in my opinion, as it makes it that much easier to use my iPad. The material feels good and not flimsy, which is a nice bonus since my iPad is the bigger size one, so I was not sure if it could support it or not.
