The portable AC is awesome and it works much better than a window AC. The noise is very low and the cooling is so fast and efficient. The efficiency of 9000 BTU also saves a lot more money than central AC or window AC while it is very portable and can be used in bedroom and living room. I feel the cooling capacity can work for a midsize living room too. Currently used in bedroom and planning to get one for the living room. Read more

The media could not be loaded. This is a great size for an Apartment, stands on the floor by the window. This works absolutely wonderful and gets very cold.. The air flow can be adjusted High or low but blows out with great power. Simple assembly for apartment windows and comes with a slider for the window. Read more

I just set this up this evening in preparation for a heat wave starting tomorrow. Will update on cooling ability after this week. As far as set up and first impressions: set up is similar to other portable A/C. Pretty straight forward instructions and they never give enough material to fully fill the window gap so I had to find about 8 more inches of something to fill the gap. It has a basic remote with no display. Buttons have icons. Looks like it might glow in the dark but isn't lit. So that's a bummer at night. The unit itself is pretty compact. Also with buttons and icons plus digital display. If it wasn't for the bulky exhaust hose it would be really small footprint. The vents aren't automatic/swinging like on other AC units but not a huge deal. Has high or low fan speeds only. Night mode didn't do much that I could tell. I wish the drain port and power cord were swapped for my set up. I probably won't use as a dehumidifier but it does have 2 drain ports to get water out of unit eventually. You'll need a bucket or small garbage can. When assembling the exhaust hose I found it easier to not pull it apart but just enough of the ends to thread the square end piece first but don't put it on ac yet. Then attach the hose to window port (also just pulling apart enough of the end to thread it) until it seems snug and the square end is pointing in the right direction to slide it into the port on back of AC. At that point the hose will expand and bend to accommodate the angle and distance needed. Still takes a little patience to get the hose threads to align with the inside threads/tracks but they will! Hopefully it cools my small bedroom enough to sleep ok. Will update as soon as I have more insights. **Update **** been using this daily for 9 days. It does cool my 10x15 bedroom and more effectively if I start it before 2 pm just before the room starts getting bulk of pm heat. I also have to bump it down to 65-66 otherwise it doesn't feel like it's doing anything. Night mode doesn't do much. I haven't needed cooling after 10pm so far but it's pretty loud in my opinion. But for those nights that don't cool down Ill run it gladly and deal. Timer feature is annoying...each up/down button press is a minute and holding button down doesn't advance by a chunk of time like some other digital timers. I tried on unit and remote. Can confirm-Remote doesn't glow. And since it doesn't have an LED display you have to be able to see the unit display. No can do without my glasses at night. At that point I'm fully up and just go to the unit to adjust anything cuz I have to use restroom now anyway! Haha. There are only 7 buttons so you can memorize power button at least for sure. ;) Unsure if I'll track energy use because we run similar units in other rooms. These units are typically energy zappers. Which is why timing and shading the spaces becomes an artform. Definitely watch for price drops before purchasing, if you can, for it to be a good value. UPDATE: year 2: All the above issues seem really annoying this year. I had forgotten that the temperature output needed to start at 66 to be affective. I turned it on in the afternoon set to 72....by the time I went to bed later the room was still 88°. I think their thermostat is defective or not calibrated correctly. And the space around the exhaust hose is even worse because those are never insulated and this unit doesn't compensate. I wouldn't recommend this unit. By far the worst I've had of the 4. Read more

I use it in my room at night and it's not too noisy. It is easy to install. Reduce the temperature of the room to a comfortable level within an hour. It keeps me cool and is not very expensive. It's a good investment. Very satisfied. Good quality, highly recommended. Read more

I purchased the Costway 9000 btu portable air conditioner and within hrs of set up, the Air conditioner stopped working during a super humid hot night. I followed the trouble shooting instructions but, it wouldn't start. I requested return of the malfunctioning item. I received a label and no option for pickup. I attempted to contact seller for pickup of this over 70lb conditioner and no response. I then contacted Amazon who said, they would contact the seller but, still no response. I ended up printing the label and dragging this heavy machine. It wouldn't have been such a nightmare if I weren't undergoing chemo, immunotherapy on 24 hr oxygen and severely fatigue. It felt like I was climbing Mount Everest as I struggled to bring the air conditioner to Fed X. Thankfully, staff at Fed x helped me get it out of car & into the store. I have not received a refund or response from Costway. Today I filed a claim with Amazon for my refund and received my new purchase of the black decker 9000 btu portable ac. So, far it is way better! The Costway air conditioner only worked for a couple of hrs but, in comparison to the black decker which blows strong cool air, quiet and works great, Costway 9000 btu air conditioner is junk. I wouldn't recommend this company or product to anyone, ever. Terrible customer service. Don't let low price fool u. The product is below standard. Read more

I recently purchased this AC and have been using this for a week. It's a perfect timing for the sudden summer heat. This AC is powerful enough for my study room, the room can be cooled from 86° F to 73° F within a few minutes. It's able to create a consistent and comfortable temperature through the whole room. It has three cooling speeds to choose from, which perfectly caters to my needs. One down side to mention is that when the AC is running, the noise is actually a bit noticeable. But I'm always wearing my noise cancelling headphones while study, so this is not an issue for me. Overall, this AC is really a nice one to have in the summer. Read more

For a small unit, it's surprisingly strong and gets the room very cold. But it's loud like a jet engine. Read more

This AC is very effective and fast at cooling the first floor of our Small Cape. Definitely more powerful then I expected with simple setup. The attachment it came with fits our large sliding window. I just secured it with some heavy duty white tape to match the wall. This will make this summer super cool for us. Thank you for the affordable quality Window AC listing. Read more
