I was a little hesitant when I bought it. I had a window unit already, that had been working for me just fine, but my roommates AC stopped working, and her room was across from mine, and getting so hot it was making our shared bathroom hot, and I'm not a fan of hot muggy rooms. So I just decided I was going to buy a new AC, then I saw the standup models and thought I'd give one of them a try because our windows are low to the floor, and installing a window unit in them requires getting very low to the floor, balancing a heavy AC out the window, and hoping not to fall out, just to install the window unit, and it's just a dangerous feeling. I figured I'd give her my window unit, so I'd never have to bother with it again, if the standup one worked well. Other reviews I saw said it would be more noisy than a window unit, less efficient to cool the room down, and went on about negative pressure, so I was worried, but once I tested it, I had no problem wanting to use it for my room, and handed over my window unit to my roommate. It cools faster just on the low cool fan setting, than my window unit did. The high fan setting is probably for very large living areas and not bedrooms, because this thing pumps out air more forcefully than the window unit. The low fan setting is also quieter than my window unit was, and even if I just run it on Fan mode, without Cool, the air flow still makes my room feel cool. Installation was also very easy, and keeping it clean and maintained is going to be far easier than maintaining the window unit. Just slide the window tube off the back of the AC, and you can clean the filters, drain the tanks if you run the dehumidifier mode, and when your done, slide the tube back on. Some Cons that were simple enough to fix. First, the window installation kit is meant for extremely wide windows, or horizontally sliding windows. IF you have a standard house window that opens up and down, you will need to cut the extending portion of the window kit down enough to fit your window without blocking the exhaust hole. This took 2 minutes with a hacksaw. Second, the drain tube that comes with it, isn't the best method, since once you uncork the drain holes, water will immediately come out while you're putting the tube in. I cut the tube in half and then from the end, I cut one portion down to 3 inches for the top tank, and the other to 5 inches for the bottom tank. Then I bought cheap little plastic faucet spouts for them from Lowes, and crazy glued the spouts into the tubes. Now I can just keep the tubes attached, and when I want to drain the tanks, I just put something under a spout and turn the valve to let the water out without ever having to deal with the mess of trying to uncork it to insert a long tube. I also placed wire mesh on the window side heat tube outlet, to prevent stink bugs from entering, the way they were entering my window unit. We get stink bugs where I live, and every other day, one would come flying out of the window unit. Now I don't have to worry about them getting into the window exhaust tube, even though I doubt they could get into the standup AC from the tube, I didn't want the risk of them flying into my room, whenever I detach the tube for routine filter cleaning and general maintenance. Works great for a smallish room or even two small rooms that are connected. Very mobile. Only seen electric bill go up a few dollars after started using, so very energy efficient. Very good air flow. Design is nice and simple. Definitely keeps the bedroom cool and comfortable. The only thing bad is it leaks a little around the hose that blows hot air outside but is easily dealt with some tape or something else to seal it Read more

It's been two summers now and it's been working well. Also pretty quiet. Not sure the thermostat is totally accurate, but it definitely cools the room. Read more

We purchased this at the end of March 2024, but didn't start using it until May 2024. We only ever used it an night in our bedroom, and only during the summer months. We started to have issues in the past couple of weeks with it randomly shutting off during the night, so we decided to take it apart to see what was going on, and inside was covered in mold. We reached out to the company to see if they sell replacement filters. They stated that they don't sell replacement parts, and the item is now out of warranty so there's nothing that can be done about it. I definitely don't recommend this product unless you're prepared to purchase a new one every year. Read more

So about six years ago I got the predecessor to this model. When it came time to replace.my old unit, I'd been so happy with the previous one I purchased the same brand, just the more modern version. Realistically I think the original unit I got six years ago was probably a 4 star quality item - it blew cold air, but the controls were kind of difficult and I never could get it to work based on settings - it was more a 'turn on for AC turn off when room is cool' type deal - the unit still works today, though it has to be drained increasingly, which is why I bought this one. This new model? It will nearly Freeze the 340 SF room I got it for, and it will do it Quickly. Bear in mind I'm in Florida, so it's very hot and very humid here. The features on it, and the way everything goes together, are a Lot more convenient! The controls work just fine and are very intuitive. There are two settings and, on the low setting, it's fairly quiet. I have not had to drain it this far, zero water leakage. Very easy to assemble and, in this modern version, it appears that cleaning the filters and such will be a Lot easier than in the older one. I haven't used the remote, so I can't comment on it. Interestingly, the price point was actually Lower than the model I purchased six years ago...I guess because you can get much higher BTU units now but, for the square footage I am cooking, I didn't need more than 10,000 BTU. So, obviously, I am Extremely Happy with this purchase. Highly Recommended. Read more
