So far this has been a really good product. I bought it for my wife because she spends so much time gardening and often mentions that her nails are sensitive. The bottle arrived in perfect condition with no leaks and the cap seals securely. She says it dries quickly and I have seen her put it on right before heading out to garden without any issues. How long it lasts seems to depend on how rough you are with your hands. For her, it usually holds up for a day or two. She is currently using it only as a strengthener, so I cannot comment on how it works as a base coat under polish. One of her favorite things about this is that it is vegan and cruelty free. Since we are big animal lovers, that really matters to us and makes us more likely to keep buying it if it continues to hold up well. I am in the process of regrowing my nails, they are currently short, thin, and peel easily. Also, I do a lot of household chores and I like to soak in hot bath too -- all these do not create ideal conditions for long-lasting manicure. Normally, my nail polishes (base +2 color layer + top) start to chip and peel at the end of the second day and I have to completely redo my mani on the third day. In principle, I like to change nail color such often. I did not know this brand and did not expect too much from this base coat polish. However, it turns out to be one of the long-lasting polishes for my nails in their present state. This base coat easily lasted to day 6-7, the nail polish did not lose the shine, I did not have even single nail with cracked or peeled polish, only at couple of nails I feel some thinning/wear of polish at the very edges of nails. It is truly amazing result for me, and I like this polish very much. Then, what I do not like. The brush is terrible, probably the worst I’ve used in the last twenty years. I understand that idea was to make a polish product with a much smaller than usual quantity of nail polish, but in this case the bottle’s design needs more consideration — it should not be too broad in the base, because with too wide bottle for that polish quantity, the bottle height should be diminished, and the physical space left for the brush will be very limited and small. As a result, we have a super short brush (as a cap-brush construction) but with too long and fluffy bristles, starting practically from the cap. This brush was not designed for comfort use and polish application. I frequently change nail color and I am rather proud of my abilities to apply dark-colored polishes precisely close to the cuticle line in 1-2 strokes without any need for further corrections. Application of this base coat was a disaster for me — I marked the cuticle area on each and every of my fingers! It is good that it is a clear polish, but I did not expect that. As other brush replacements can’t fit this particular bottle, I consider to change the bottle as a potential solution or use full-size nail brush. Price. Generally, nail polishes of popular middle-range brands like Opi, Londontown, Sally Hansen come in bottles of 15 ml content, while this product from Cote comes in a 8 ml bottle with the price tag of $21, meaning that equivalent of a standard-size bottle of 15 ml will cost ~$40. You get a very small amount. It's been a while since I've painted my nails regularly, but the size of this base coat seems unreasonably small. The brush also doesn't come close to the bottom, giving you even less to use. Size aside, it has decent coverage and dried within a couple minutes. I haven’t been painting my nails as much lately, but I still wanted to put coat of clear polish on them to make them look a little more put together. This polish is easy to apply. The brush is kind of fanned out so you won’t need too many strokes to get nice coverage. It is on the thicker side, but it seems to self-level for an even finish. The bottle seals securely. There is no color to the polish. Sometimes I like a bit of a rosy tint to my clears, but this is better for not tinting any polish you apply afterward. It has a classic nail polish small that dissipates quickly. It dries as quickly as any other clear polish. I’ve been reapplying it every few days, so I’m not experiencing any chipping. It wears pretty durably. I’m hoping it’ll help keep my nails protected and looking good as I wear them a little longer. Give this base coat a try, even as a stand-alone clear polish. Read more
