Used Crane drop gallon humidifiers for about 8 years before buying this. Have tried several styles and brands over years, but Crane does it best. And this is their best humidifier yet! I’m really sensitive to dry winter air and having a humidifier going all winter has been a huge improvement in my quality of life. Pros: -First *actually* easy to clean humidifier I’ve ever found. Most humidifiers, including a lot of other Crane models, have nooks and crannies you can’t reach by hand, or even the most strategically bent bottle brush, that start to build a reddish or black mold over time even when you’re diligent about cleaning. I love that the removable parts on this just go in the top rack of my dishwasher and that the interior of the humidifier is simple and wide open so I can just stick my hand in and easy wipe away anything I need to. -It takes about 3 weeks before I notice any stuff starting to grow, compared to 2-7 days with most humidifiers. I use tap water, so my process is descale then sanitize. I sprinkle baking soda over bottom and sides, add vinegar, then go over it with a sponge. Rinse out a few times with warm water. Then fill to max line with hot water plus about a tablespoon of bleach and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly! Voila! -Top fill! I use a gallon jug that I fill in my kitchen sink and then just easily dump in the top of the humidifier. No more leaving a trail of water drops through the house. I’m a little baffled by reviewers who unplug and lug the whole humidifier to the sink for every refill. Just use a pitcher, watering can, jug, etc. -1.2 gallon tank runs for about 14 hours on high. I run it 24/7 on high and just fill it every 12ish hours. (Anytime you aren’t running it but there’s still water be sure to remove the lid or you’ll likely start growing funky stuff. Not a defect of the product; just science and the nature of any humidifier.) -Doesn’t need a filter. You don’t have to track down and replace any niche parts. Con: -While there is no machine/fan noise, the bobber thing in the mist chamber does rattle around a bit sometimes as it’s pushed up and down by the mist. I initially had this in my bedroom, but found that the noise was just enough to disturb my sleep. I moved it to the nearby living room around a corner and sleep with my door open. If it had to be in my bedroom I’d figure out a solution for the rattle (earplugs, white noise, tinkering with the mist chamber, etc) rather than buy a different humidifier. The combination of the pros are worth it and I haven’t found anything comparable for sale in the US for under $100. Read more

I live in a desert and have allergies. I have to add moisture to my room at night or my nose dries out so bad it bleeds. I tried a good half a dozen of these things before I found one that met all my needs, or at least comes close. At night I am very sensitive to every noise and light and this machine fit those needs. It does occasionally make a very soft bubbling sound. Kind of like the bubbling of a small fish tank. The lights have a night mode which turn off all the lights accept the small light letting you know it is in night mode. Personally I am so sensitive I covered that little light with black tape. My only issue is that the warm mist isn't very warm. It is slightly warmer than the cold, but not by much. Probably my favorite thing about it is it is so, so easy to clean, and it stays clean too. I know as long as they keep making them this will be the only humidifier/evaporator I ever buy again. Oh yeah and it doesn't put out that annoying whistle sound that so many of the ultrasonic machines do. That was a huge + for me!!! Read more

We got this humidifier because the winters are very dry in our region and this particular humidifier is very easy to clean. We initially bought 2, liked it enough that we decided to get a 3rd one to use in different rooms mostly at night times. We've been doing good maintenance on them, cleaning regularly and gently rinsing the walls of the reservoir when refilling water. However, one of them just stopped working after about 5 months. Filled up water as usual one day, turned it on, and it'll "blow" air but won't create any mist. Cleaned again, dried it completely, nothing. Then about a week later the newest one we got about 2-3 months ago stopped working as well. Same thing, and found out it heated up the water without creating any humidity all night. We cleaned that one again, following manufacturer instructions, dried for three days(!), filled water and guess what, now that water is coming straight out the bottom. Spontaneously developed a leak. Contacted crane. Took 2 weeks to finally get a replacement after submitting warranty claim (they were telling me to clean it, dry it, etc - which were all done) and guess what, despite following all the instructions, they decided to ignore my 2nd warranty claim request (no response whatsoever) and only sent me one replacement. I've been emailing them for the last week and no response whatsoever. In fact, the only email I got was "we didn't get a response so we'll assume this resolved". Excuse me??? How many times do I need to contact you?? I made sure the claims I sent them included pictures of the base and serial numbers (2 separate claims, 2 separate sets of numbers) and followed their instructions to the T. But no, they won't honor their warranties. The last and only working one is doing something funky now too. I'll turn it on and it randomly won't work, and I'd have to turn it off and on again to try to get it to work. And when it doesn't work, it just heats up the water. Not safe. So buy this if you need something for a couple months and realize that crane does not honor their "warranty", aka we ignore your contacts. Update: after another week and multiple more emails, I got a response from "Cameran" at Crane that they had processed shipped the 2nd warranty claim and it probably is just on the way. Flat out lie. I requested a tracking number, no response. It's been another week and 3 more emails and no response. No, they did not ship the 2nd replacement because there were no shipping notifications, automatic "warranty processed" email or any notifications from FedEx that I normally get when something gets shipped. Poor customer service is one thing, but to have the audacity to flat out LIE to the customers!! Wow, they have really reached the next level of horrible corporation. Take this into your account. I love this humidifier. I believe it accurately detects the humidity level in the room. I like that you can really adjust the output. Easy to fill I also love the purple light. The features are also great because you can change your mist to warm, it has an ionizer and it has UV light for the water tank. This is my second one this time I got the extended warranty. Read more

I have never been a fan of touch buttons like these. I like mechanical things. Aside from that, it has been a good humidifier. I love the customization and how long the tank can go. Refilling is super easy and cleaning is very easy. I wish I could get rid of the light in the center but have just resorted to covering it with a sticky note so that it doesn't keep me up. It's quite and does its job. It will stop when it runs out. Read more
