I love this thing! High quality parts, works so well! I use it mostly for cheeses, cheddar, Parma, and mozzarella. Nothing works great for the soft mozzarella, but this does ok. For the cheddar, just make sure you clean the center part of grater out as you work and it does huge amounts fantastically! And potatoes are done easily as well. Works on Parmesan and chocolate too. The suction works SO well on my counter, of course make sure counter is clean. I love it most, because it works well and is not electric! Super easy to wash and dry as well. So far, I have coarsely ground some peanuts and shredded a potato for hash browns, and this Cuisinart worked fine. I'm sure I'll be able to slice foods with equal success. The unit is compact and therefore easy to store, and easy to disassemble for cleaning as well. To the point of suction. Obviously you need to mount the tool on a flat non-porous surface. Additionally, the surface and the suction cup must be clean. If the suction does not work, some condition I listed above is not present. When I mount the Cuisinart, I push lightly down onto the countertop surface and throw the lever. The unit is held in place quite snugly. I have a quartz countertop, and the suction works fine. In fact, I even left it overnight, and the next morning, the Cuisinart still held firm. I like having an appliance that is not electric for a change. This grater is very easy to assemble and dis-assemble. It also can be stored in the box along with all of the attachments without "engineering" each piece carefully back into the box. This works for me because we are often mis-placing attachments to our kitchen tools. Once assembled, be sure that your suction is secure on the countertop, and you are good to go. This baby will not budge once the suction has held. It grates through cheese and veggies like a breeze, and it is easy to clean. So happy I purchased this, and I think it would make a nice gift for the home cook who likes true cooking tools instead of gadgets. Read more

I was debating on this one because I've always wanted the one that has the container underneath to catch the food. This thing is amazing. It will grate a block of cheese in seconds, literally. Also you can put a zip lock bag around the shoot to catch the food if you prefer, it fits easily. It didn't fit around my standard grater, but at the same time the food came out the bottom so it was hard to grate and collect food at the same time since you have to put on a counter and try & put the bag on the bottom, it just didnt work out. You would have to hold it off the counter and try and grate at the same time. I'm sure everyone understands what I mean. This one, which has the food coming out the side, works out perfectly. When I broke up the block of cheese and put as much as I could fit inside, I had the whole block of cheese done in seconds. The handle on the side is what makes this grater an amazing device. I've also done cucumbers, just as quick. I didn't think I would LOVE a cheese grater, but I do!
