Quality: It feels cheap. The outer plastic definitely has a cheap feel to it. The plastic pieces aren't lined up perfectly, or the measurements were off when the parts were cut. You can see gaps along the seam where it doesn't quite fit and snap together snugly. The wavy heat plates also have a few gaps between them. I used this on my real hair first and wish I hadn't. Because of how poorly put together this device is, a few strands of my hair got stuck in the plate and pulled out. You can still see the strands stuck in. I tried taking them out, but no luck. Heat/temperature: This does not get hot enough for type 4 hair. My hair is thin and was already flat-ironed straight before I attempted to put waves in it. The resulting waves didn't last long, even on the hottest setting. The waves started off dramatic and deep but quickly turned into a shallow wave. Seeing how terrible it was and how my hair got stuck in the plates, I switched over to a human hair wig and a mannequin to see how well it would work on that. On the human hair wig, it worked amazingly. The waves did not stay as defined as they were when I first unclipped the device, but they stayed in better than in my actual hair. The mannequin head is a synthetic and human hair mix. The waves achieved were very light and hardly noticeable. It did not yield dramatic results and those result it did yield took a long time. Overall, if you have type 1 or type 2 hair, this would probably work okay for you; anything else, and this product is a bust. Honestly though, I would just save my money. If you want waves, it's far more effective to braid your hair and flat iron the braid or leave it in overnight and take it down in the morning. This tool is cheap and not constructed well. This tool is not worth the 27-dollar price tag. The quality is that of a 10-dollar item. Read more

Wowy -- this works! I am a total klutz when I try to do beach curls on my uncooperative hair. This appliance is simple and does the job. I'm glad that the unit has four heat settings since my fine hair gets fried with high heat. I took off one star for the handle design. While it is easy to use, be careful not to accidentally change the heat settings when gripping the handle. It is a design flaw that makes this appliance a little awkward. Instructions are sparse and not especially clear, but the method is obvious. Read more

I’m obsessed with this thing! It’s been such a wonderful tool for my hair and I’ve used it at formal events and for everyday looks. I have a more expensive tool that I favor this over. My hair has a hard time holding curl but the crimper works every time and holds the entire time too! Read more

0 stars! An absolute hunk of junk. First, the item is very cheaply made. The temperature does not get hot enough to make any effect on think hair. Also, while holding the tool, it’s very easy to accidentally turn off the heat because of the button placement. Horrible product. Save your money. Read more
