This hair waver is SO good. It heats up fast, it’s lightweight, and it gives those perfect beachy, textured waves in just a few minutes. I love that the barrels don’t snag or crease weirdly — the waves come out soft, even, and super cute every time. My hair is pin straight, lots of product needed over here to hold a curl. I used zero product just testing it out and OMG, the results were perfection. Slept thru the night and NOT ONE flat spot.10/5 Highly recommend. No snag, lasted thru a rough night's sleep and still looked amazing in the morning. There weren’t much reviews from black women with pictures on this item so I took a gamble. I have 4A hair texture and I used the 1 inch waver/crimper after already having my hair straightened for a week and just wanted to add some waves/texture to change it up. After reading reviews I didn’t want to turn the temp up too high. I achieved the look in the picture using the 300 temperature setting for a 10 second hold. I would have liked more pronounced waves and had to go over some sections more than once and probably could have turned the heat higher to prevent having to go over a few sections but didn’t want to damage my hair. Now it did work. But it still gave that “flat iorn” smell other reviews have mentioned and I just used some olaplex oil after I was finished and it help with the smell and the next day the smell was completely gone. CONS: I will say that the timer is iffy didn’t always sound after 10 seconds, the waver itself could open up wider to make it easier to grab sections, and it sometimes snags hairs between the plates and plastic body of the waver PROS: timer (when working- worked most of the time), quick heat, easy to handle, works for 4A hair texture, only took 15 mins to do whole head (I have thin hair), has rubber guards/grips on the edge of the iron so you don’t burn your fingers and they act as grips so the iron doesn’t slide on the counter or burn it (this was a nice touch). I never write reviews but this TYMO waver is worth submitting one. It has been a long time since I was this happily satisfied with a product. For reference this picture shows the cheaper version I have replaced over and over for years. First use with the TYMO I couldn't be more pleased. I have been hesitant to spend even the extra little bit of money to buy a better product bc I am always dissapointed and end up returning. After reading dozens of other reviews I decided to take the risk and so glad I did. The price of the TYMO is very reasonable and well worth the try. To start there was no weird chemical smell you get when first use of these hair tools. It heated up so quickly. Less than a minute or so. I have been used to waiting like 5 to 10 min to get to the temperature I needed on my old waver. The timer and temperature control on this is just a added bonus. What used to take me over 20 minutes took less than 5 to do my whole head and I have thick hair. Furthermore, the waves created looked so much more natural and my hair felt less fried. I have finally found what I have been in search of forever. This waver is a game changer and must buy. High hopes that this will outlast my previous wavers. Almost wanting to buy another one just to ensure I can get this same product again if ever needed. Nothing like finding something great and then it being discontinued. One more note... FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU AND ITS GREAT!! I do have that burnt hair smell, not during, but I get a wif of it like perfume. Next time I’m going to turn the heat down. I did 340 and 8 seconds bc I have fine hair but a lot of it, didn’t smell it while using but like I said now my hair smells and I get wifs. Next time- heat protectant, lower heat, and don’t wait for the beep. My hairs virgin and shoulder length and has no damage because I let it air dry and just keep it up and then wash it every 3-4 days. I suggest wiping down the iron with half water and half isopropyl alcohol before use. Love the look, hate the smell. Hopefully after changing it I’ll find what works, the instructions give suggestions, I chose the second lowest best possible (for thin BLEACHED HAIR) and 8 seconds like it said.
