This texturizing powder added volume to my hair (temporarily) with a matte finish. What stood out • A light dusting decent volume and thickness quickly and works well for my hair, which tends to fall flat unless I blow dry and hold it up with hair products. • The strong hold keeps styles in place without needing a lot of product buildup. • Easy to apply and doesn’t make hair feel stiff — more like lived-in texture than a helmet. What to keep in mind • Because it’s a powder, use sparingly — too much can feel dry or chalky until you work it in. It's also a bit messy to work with. • Because it's a matte finish, my hair did not have streaks / strands with definition so I just used a bit of the powder for volume and finished with the slightest touch of pomade or hair fiber to create that definition. I got this texture powder to see if it could give me a little more volume at my roots / the top of my head. I have long, layered hair that is somewhat coarse and mostly straight. It likes to sit very flat where it comes out of the top of my head, and puffs out as you go down the hair. So volume at the top is needed for me to not look like a cone head. I applied this powder liberally to my roots, fluffed them, and felt like it worked fairly well, but not quite as well as I would have liked. I think this powder would probably work great for a shorter women's hairstyle, or a men's hairstyle, but longer women's hair is probably just too much and too heavy for this type of product alone. It does actually do a nice job of being kind of like a dry shampoo, with its oil-absorbing properties. My hair also felt fine after applying, no stickiness or tackiness, no stiffness, etc. The white powder was not visible in my black hair after fluffing. I tried this while wearing a black shirt -- don't make that mistake (hello dandruff look). But the powder thankfully brushed off my shirt fairly easily. The amount of root fluffiness that it did provide lasted for the whole day I had it in, and it washed out of my hair well at the end of the day too. Overall, a pretty good product that worked decently well on me, but would probably work great/better on others. Read more

Not the best texturing powder out there. It’s easy to use but doesn’t work as well as other brands in my opinion. My husband agreed as he does his hair daily. It didn’t hold his thick short hair style well as other ones we’ve used. I got this for my son’s hair and it just didn’t hold up. The price was good for two bottoms but it needs more tackiness almost to make hair hold its shape?? Idk the verbiage but definitely go with a different brand. Read more

I was curious if I would end up seeing any of this hair texture styling powder in my dark brown hair after application, but it seemed to me to completely disappear, which is great. This styling powder reminded me somewhat of a non-aerosol dry shampoo. In my opinion it made my roots and scalp feel a little less greasy. It is mattifying for sure, and unscented as far as I can tell. A lot of dry shampoos have quite a pungent fragrance, so even simply using this powder for that purpose works for me, since this powder has no scent. I have very curly hair, so brushing in the traditional sense, after my hair is dry, is not going to happen. Instead, I lifted up chunks of my hair here and there, let a tiny little bit of the very finely milled powder sprinkle about my roots, flip more over, add more powder, sprinkle a little on my hands and proceeded to fluff my hair with my fingers. Even still with all that I truly used a tiny amount. I noticed my roots looked a little less flat and weighed down. The lift lasted quite a while as well. I am not unreasonable, I know gravity and the weight of my hair will pull it down eventually, but the styling powder certainly did a good job! I could not feel anything in my hair after fluffing it all in there, so it did not feel like I was caking my head with products. It washes out easily as far as I am concerned; I highly recommend the wash-rinse-repeat method for best scalp cleansing anyway. Read more

I first discovered this type of product years ago at a salon in Paris, where the stylist used it to lift my flat hair at the roots. This one performs very similarly! It gives subtle volume and texture without feeling heavy or sticky. The result is natural, which I really like. Read more

I have been using this product for the better part of a week and I have mixed feelings about it. Much of my opinion is based on comparing it to a more traditional hair styling cream I've been using. This powder has the consistency of talcum powder and it easily disappears when rubbed into my hair. The tracks from my comb are much less evident with this than when I use styling cream. Although this product does give me the ability to easily style my hair for indoors, a light application of the powder led to wind-blown hair in a fairly slight breeze. A heavier application holds my hair a bit better outdoors but it still doesn't have the holding power of styling cream. In contrast to my styling cream which can be applied to wet or dry hair, the instructions for this product say to use it on dry hair. I have not experimented to see what it does with wet hair, which is how I use my styling cream. I have one nit-picking comment... Because the powder is so lightweight and it comes in an opaque dark container, there's really no way to know when you're running low on the product until it's entirely gone. Read more
