Dansko Makara Ankle Boot - Dual-Density Cork EVA Midsole and Lightweight Rubber Outsole Provide Durable and Comfortable Ride

This is a really well made, awesomely comfortable shoe, which I am returning because of the fit. My feet are medium leaning towards narrow width, with high arch and instep, US 6-1/2, or 37. I have been wearing Dansko for over 30 years; clogs, boots & sandals. 99% of the time a 37 is perfect, occasionally I need to go up or down 1 size in a particular shoe. That is no longer the case. I don’t know what Dansko has done with their sizing but it’s all over the place. In general they seem to be wider and shorter. However this boot is narrower and longer. The arch in this shoe is perfectly placed for me but the shoes are about 1/4” longer than my other 37’s. Width when I first put them on was a little snug but wearing them in the house for an hour loosened that up. They feel heavenly to stand in; great support and cushioning. But it’s difficult to walk around in them. My heal slips a lot and I’m afraid if the width continues to relax they will be flopping around and hard to keep on when I’m wearing them out and around like normal shoes. I hated to take them off. They make great slippers but the heavy soles and sturdy traction make it clear they are made for more challenging activities than watch TV in my pajamas. Read more

I am a complete lover of Dansko, and these boots fit my expectations. The fit is as expected and quality is great. These are comfortable and super cute, able to be paired with jeans or nice pants for work! The sole/heel also feels more stable and less likely to cause my foot to roll (which I’ve done in a few of their other styles). Definitely a keeper! Read more

Very nice and stylish, well made. They run a bit larger than typical Dansko, I ordered my usual size and had to return for next size down, which fit great. Only reason I’m not giving a 5 star rating is the inside of the boot is fabric, not leather lined like I expected. They are still good quality leather exterior, a bit stiff but they’ll soften as I wear them. Good arch support. Read more

The firm cork sole is amazing for balance issues. Springy sports shoes are dangerous for someone my age, 85, especially on thick carpets. This bootie supports the entire foot, does not overwork the foot, thus avoiding neuropathy, avoiding plantar fascia and bunion problems. It is a fashion statement with dress casual and much more attractive than orthopedic. It did run a bit short in my usual size 8 1/2 (9) but still works. Read more

In the past I've ordered Euro 41 shoes, but read the reviews carefully and went with a Euro 40 for this boot. LOVE this boot! Out of the box wore it to an event today and shopping--comfort all day. The toe box is nice and roomy, length good and support normal for Dansko. Today I wore them without an extra insert and they felt fantastic. The brown color is perfect. Very happy with this purchase.
