Not a bad laptop for the price. Gave it as a Christmas present to replace a 10 year old laptop. Would have preferred Windows 7, but it came with Windows 10, but not an issue. Have to update with the times I guess. Overall, laptop is fairly fast, decent amount of ram. Did not want to get 4 gigs of ram, not enough for Windows 10 or 7. This laptop will mostly be for email and surfing, no gaming. 1TB hard drive is more than enough for it's use. Spent some time neutering Windows 10, dumping Cortana and all the privacy issues that go along with it. Screen size is nice and also the backlight keyboard which can be dimmed or shut off completely. Laptop has no battery or hard drive door. Looks like laptop would have to be disassembled to remove or replace battery or hard drive. I was reluctant to buy Dell, but my work laptops (Dell) were fairly reliable. I rarely use Windows myself, only in some instances and at work. I prefer to use Linux for computing and PfSense for a firewall at home. Read more

Battery Life: I'm reviewing this after having it a while so the less than great battery life may be due to its age. I don't know. It doesn't last an hour but previously would last longer when I used it during classes. So now I have to keep plugged in to use. Touchscreen: Initially touchscreen would have ripples or "jump around" that's the best way I can describe it. I think it may be bc I took a chance and bought refurbished. I no longer have that issue and touchscreen works fine. Overall: overall I really like this laptop. The screensize is great. I like that it's touchscreen. Like the backlit keys. I would reccomend Read more

Overall, a very decent laptop. with touchscreen and backlit keyboard There is an incorrect statement of the description: it does not have USB Type-C port; all it has is 1x SD card reader, 1x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.1, 1x HDMI, 1x audio jack, and 1x ethernet jack. see image and details from Dell official website (new-inspiron-15-5000/inspiron-15-5570-laptop) Softwarewise: it does not come along with the 1 year McAfee anti-virus and MS Office 30 day trial as compared to the one purchase directly from Dell. It does have the 1 year limited warranty. It is not a gaming laptop, it does not have the standalone GPU. Therefore, do not expect to have a high fps while running a 3D simulation or shooting game on this machine. With its i5 core which clocks at 3.4 GHz, it does not have the superior computing power either. It would be a good laptop for daily use (i.e. web browsing, downloading, streaming) or light business use (i.e. documentation, bookkeeping, presenting) Read more

2018 Dell Inspiron 15 5000 15.6 inch Full HD Touchscreen Backlit Keyboard Laptop PC, Intel Core i5-8250U 1TB HD. Works OK after 2 weeks. Haven't used touch screen, camera, or fingerprint reader - not interested. Bought mainly for graphic drawing and playing games. Gaming fps a bit disappointing when compared to 5 year old i3 laptop - only about 15% more. Screen looks nice. Price was good at $510. Shipping was fast from Half Time. Put in a Patriot 256GB SSD into the M.2 slot and am now booting from it - works great (back doesn't have panels for easy access - have to remove whole back for fixes and upgrades - about 10 screws and plastic prybar does the trick). I still have the hard drive in for extra space if needed and its always ready to boot from if something bad happens to the SSD since it has the OS on it. The fan is LOUD compared to any of my other laptops - "what's that noise?" you may ask. It also got very hot near the vents which are on the bottom instead of the usual side venting. I always use something like a book to put the laptop on so the vents can't get clogged with the tablecloth. The right and left keypad keys are physically part of the touchpad but at least they are not active - that is very annoying when the keys also move the mouse. The '|' key is attached to the enter key but does not seem to be a problem. On-off button needs firm push and clicks. Haven't tested the battery life but seems good. The backlight is very bright and has 3 settings: off, medium, bright - fun to press :) Speakers are loud enough. All in all, pretty good. Read more

Bought this for my wife for Christmas. She wanted a "faster" computer for the internet but didn't need anything elaborate, and this filled the bill for a well made laptop that isn't ridiculously expensive. Out of the box it takes a while for it to go through all the updates and whatnot, but after those are complete it performs excellent, very fast. The whole computer in general works every bit as good and maybe even better than my Dell Latitude 5580 work laptop that was much more expensive. Praises and absolutely no complaints about it from the wife, so mission accomplished! I can easily recommend this as a very good laptop in the low price field. Read more

This is the best value laptop I’ve bought yet. I liked it so much we bought a second one for home. It’s a little slow on startup - the new i5 processor is NOT as fast as the old i7 in my experience. But I can wait an extra 30 seconds on startup for this kind of value. I don’t use the touch screen. But it has plenty of USB ports and I do like the fingerprint scanner. Backlog keyboard - nice size. It’s perfect for my work computer. Read more
