Powerhouse DELL Micro Computer. Great Price. Fantastic Value.
It's exactly what it says it is. It came in Dell Packaging, unopened. Brand New. Note, this had 2 NVME slots and each one had a 512GB drive. Both drives are Samsung drives. The OS Drive is slightly faster than the second drive. The drives are fast (approx 5000 r/w/sec). This computer can handle faster drives (7500 r/w/sec). I replaced both with 2TB drives (WD Black, Samsung 99 EVO). My internal storage is now 4 TB. I see sustained data transfer between the drives of 675 to 750 MB/Sec. (note Bytes, not bits). This unit is very quiet and cool to the touch. No loud fan noise. I bought this system for the IO throughput as well as the CPU power (Intel Ultra 7). All the ports are USB 3.2. Three of the Ports are USB 4 (one up to 20Gbps). This is the compact workhorse I wanted. I am not a gamer, but do a lot of Video rendering. I move a lot of data around and generate a lot of data (Terabytes). I use this as my general purpose computer with 2 monitors. I will be considering adding a 3rd monitor. This machine is FAST. I'm replacing a 7 year old DELL XPS i9 desktop. This runs circles abound it and its compact (not a tower). One note to be aware of, Dell thinks this computer is in China (hence the grey market sale). I'm going through the process to get this computer transferred to me with the warranty. Every indication is that this can be done. I'll update my review when completed. The dell support website recognized the system perfectly. Just the China issue. I don't expect to need Dell Support. I had the top tier support for my XPS and when I needed their help, I knew more than they did. They did not find or fix the problem. They wouldn't even acknowledge the firmware problem I found. The next firmware release fixed the problem (still not acknowledged). Dell made me jump though too many hoops to even try and fix it. They told me my Disks were too big and had me remove them and revert back to the original 2 TB drive (SATA). This cost me additional time and money as I had to move my 10TB to external NAS. I was running my own mirror of 2 10TB WD RED drives for 3 years before the problem appeared. Dell failed. I'm an expert user, and I will take care of my own support. I will say that DELL Support is good, but not for the difficult problem I had. My system would hang (freeze). No error. It just stopped and needed to be rebooted. It would run until the next freeze. I spent over a month working with them. I kept searching the internet and finally found a discussion of my problem in a Dell Community Forum. I was not alone. By the time I found the forum, I had already moved on. I had to remove my GEForce high end graphics card. I found out that the on-board Intel graphics could do the work I needed almost as fast. All I really want is the warranty for hardware failure. All in all, this is a Great Value, with a much bigger discount that Dell would give me. So far this machine is fantastic. UPDATE 2/3/2026 The transfer of ownership was quick and easy. I filled in the form yesterday and was notified today that the transfer is complete. I have 6 USB 2 Devices. So I bought this powered 10 Port USB Hub: https://www.amazon.com/ACASIS-Individual-Switches-Splitter-Extension/dp/B0C3QQG42H/ It allows me to use one USB 3.x port to connect: Fingerprint reader, Keyboard Dongle, Mouse Dongle, Brother P-Touch Labeler, Logitech Camera, powered speakers, Epson Scanner. Leaving 3 additional ports. It works Great. Now I'm all set. This system is exceeding my expectations which isn't easy. Read more
