1. Heat: Yes it does get hot. However, I have a pad that I put it on so I don't feel it at all and my laptop is safe from overheating. If you put the laptop on your lap, you are going to hate it. If you cover the fans, don't be shocked if it shuts off on you. Having said all this, it perfectly fine for me and not a problem. Some people are complaining about the heat and at the end of the day, if you don't feel it, why should you care? 2. Battery Life: Once again, yes it is bad. But you have three settings. Save battery, balanced, and best performance. Saving battery does a good job of doing just that. Balanced is good but performance will drain battery. Just have your charger and, once again, no biggy. I always take my charger if I'm going out to study. Once again, not a big deal. Those are the 2 main complaints apparently but for me, it is workable. Looks: The laptop looks amazing but not as nice as the xps 13 plus. The xps 13 plus gets too hot though so it is definitely one that should probably be avoided. Performance: Fast and reliable. I don't play games so I can't say anything about that But I wouldn't look into getting this for gaming. The laptop shuts off fast and turns on fast. Screen looks great with a nice OLED display but you dont get 120 hz. Overall, its been amazing, but I honestly feel like it was overpriced by a couple hundred dollars. Regardless, I've gotten alot done on it. If you don't need or want a fancy laptop, then there is no need to get this. Just get something half price that will help you with your work. Edit: the price apparently went up, so I thought I update this review. I bought this for around 1400 dollars. Although I originally stated that it is overpriced by a couple hundred, I feel like 800 is what it should go for. It just seems like if you're buying anything with Oled screens, companies will just overcharge you. However, even though it is only 60 hz, The screen is definitely very nice. Oh, and lastly, in 2025, you can find much better for the price unless the sellers decide to lower the price to ALOT less Read more

Bought this computer last September. Pretty sure I specifically ordered new, I don't think I would've paid what I did for a used computer (much more than what it's costing now). First, battery life- NOT at all as good as advertised. I am a student and it didn't last through a day of classes. Under a month ago (see: less than 5 MONTHS since I bought the computer), I started having charging issues. First, it was just the cord. Annoying, but no humongous deal, just another 45watt USB-C charger. Then, the PORTS THEMSELVES stopped working. I was originally able to charge through both USB-C ports ("Lightning charge"?) (by the way, the two USB-c ports are the ONLY ones on the computer. No USB-A). First, the one on the right stopped working. Then, the one on the left stopped working. Leaving me with no way to charge my computer. Not only was the hardware failing, I looked and discovered that the computer was over a YEAR out of warranty. Again, keep in mind this computer was bought last September, of 2024. The warranty was stated to have expired in 2023. June of 2023. A year and 3 months before I even acquired the laptop. Now, I'm not entirely sure if I bought new (looked, the people who are/were selling it are a refurbishing company? though that might just be the ones that are available now. but its the same listing, so...), but what I did buy, was a computer that came with a year of premium support. That premium support expired in 2023 as well. Dell hasn't gotten back to me about getting the ownership transferred, but I suppose that's no fault of the hardware. Overall, computer not the best and has effectively died after 5 months of my owning it/use. Don't buy a laptop for near 2k off Amazon. And if you want a new computer, make sure its actually new. And, for goodness sakes, can they add multiple ports back to computers? Read more

After just returning a MacBook Air that was totally illogically designed (to me), I am in excellent position to appreciate the logical wonders of a Windows machine! With an i7 under the hood, great display, familiar arrangement of data files and apps, for me, this is how a laptop should be designed, including a 13.5" footprint that fits perfectly in my lap. Wi-Fi 6 and BT5 came right up and made my life rewarding. Love this machine! Read more

It's a great laptop. It was a great buy via Amazon. I also took advantage of Amazon's payment plan. The laptop is extremely thin, very fast and comes with all the Microsoft S/W I needed. This is my second XPS 13. I especially love the size. Read more

My bad. I should have read the reviews before I bought this. It's a really cute little laptop. But I need a laptop to be more than cute. It's not a dog after all! Laptop runs very, very hot from the minute it's plugged in. I actually thought it might start smoking. Another thing, the touchscreen never worked. Is there a trick where it needs to be turned on or something? Anyway, I thought it was a fluke so I bought the same computer again but directly through Dell. All the same things happened along with a cord that wouldn't power up the computer. I had to use the cord from the original. Not sure what's going on at Dell. Some mad employees? Job security for the "design new models" department? Regardless, I'm out. Read more
