Great heat gun!

Chris StewardJune 27, 2025✓ Verified purchase

The media could not be loaded. Fantastic heat gun for doing heat, shrink tubing, etc. Don’t know where this thing has been my entire life as it works fantastically for multiple tasks. Battery life is very good even with a smaller battery and unit seems very durable. High low selector, which seems to work very well for different temperatures and having the trigger safety lockout is Especially helpful. Works really good on shrink/solder connectors as well! Easy to grab and get to work

So nice to not have a cord to heat shrink wires. Works good I wish I bought one sooner. Read more

Very handy addition to 20V XR tool set

M. FischerJanuary 7, 2023✓ Verified purchase

I was looking for a simple heat gun to use for simple heat shrink use. I already own a collection of 20V XR DeWalt batteries so this heat gun was a no brainer addition. Compared to my corded heat gun, this tool does not deliver the high heat (it is battery operated after all) output but it works just fine for its intended purpose. This tool is very effective for heat shrink purposes. I have also tried it with solder wire joint splice and there is sufficient heat to melt the solder and heat shrink the sleeve around it. This tool also makes it very easy to use a heat gun anywhere outside, or any remote location where access to AC power is problematic. You do need to keep in mind that since this is battery powered, your run time will be limited. Read more

Good, but.....

PsychofishermanNovember 30, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Should I have bought this? I guess so. Will I use it as much as my corded one? Definitely yes. Does it work as good? Very much so. I got this as my traveler. In other words, it will go on camping trips for emergency repairs. This heat gun works well, and is quite compact. It takes about 15 seconds to get up to temp on Low, and about 8 secs, on High. I use it on electrical projects with wiring, and heat shrink tubing. It works well, and does a fine job with a 5ah battery. Don't let it run, use it, cool it. It came with 2 heat deflection attachments. They work fine, nothing fancy. Overall, yeah I'd buy it again, but buy on sale!! Not worth the money if it's over 99.00, and you have a corded version. When camping 110v isn't always available. I bought on Prime Days sale. Read more

Great heat, Less airflow

OmeggaDaddyJuly 13, 2024✓ Verified purchase

👍🏻 Recommended: Despite less airflow than cheaper plug-in guns, this one provides plenty of heat & stands upright to cool off after using. Cheaper plug-in heat guns have much higher airflow & higher temperatures. That being said, sometimes the cheap guns are too hot and blow too much air. This dewalt 20v gun provides plenty of heat for small projects. Less airflow with plenty of heat means you don’t have to worry about burning everything else nearby. You also don’t have to worry about a cooling stand or heat resistant surface to set it down on after using it like you do with plug-in guns. They take forever to cool off & risk burning whatever surface they touch when laying down. Read more

★★★☆☆

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LotsOTotsFebruary 12, 2026✓ Verified purchase

I'm not quite sure what the use case would be beyond shrink wrapping. It is portable, so there's that. But it seems like it is lacking all power to preserve battery life. It was unable to sufficiently melt PLA plastic, which should melt between ~300-400°F (~150-200°C), at a very close distance. Read more
