This thing gets really hot. Nice quality tool as are all Dewalt tools. Heavy duty and nice to use. I really like the fold out feet that can be used to keep the hot tip of the gun off of the working surface. Read more
This heat gun is fantastic. Has the ability to adjust th temperature from 200 to i believe 1200 degrees F and gets scorching hot in a timely fashion. This gun is super high quality and has a very solid build, almost feels like a luxury item. ANY heat gun manufacturer will have defective units simply due to the intense nature of these products but the probability of you receiving one is extremely rare. I have used many heat guns and this one is the best. The cable is super thick & long but very bendable and durable so it won't tangle or get rips or tears. Many times you won't even need an extension cord for this gun. I also has a stand and different head attachments for concentrated heat. If you were like me and every time you find a heat gun you like, then you change your mind because of the negative reviews, then look no further. BUY THIS HEAT GUN! you will love it. Its by far the nicest one and best value out of any I have seen and has a great warranty. In my opinion this is a better buy than any of the other heat guns I have seen/used regardless of price. Per the review of Regis Staley, I got this to replace some golf club shafts. Unfortunately, this did not work on my old Ping ISK beryllium nickel clubs. Not only is the metal very unusual, but in those days Ping probably used some secret aircraft epoxy as well. Even my torch, which I ended up using, took some time to pop that joint. So, if I was doing club work on a regular basis I would opt for a mega-hot industrial heat gun. I have used those in an auto repair shop and they are worth their high price in that setting, even though they do not last forever. No heat gun does. The expensive, industrial ones can be repaired. The DeWalt is well made and I thought the performance/price combo is good. The two included nozzles are handy. It heats up fast and should suffice for any normal heat gun task. The stand does work! Now I can retire my antique glowing electric paint stripper. That thing is nasty. Would actually catch the wood on fire. It was inherited and probably was 60-70 years old and still worked. I suspect that it will take more than a few Chinese heat guns to span that time, but there are advantages as well... Read more
The 2 fan speeds and variable heat output were the features that caught my attention when researching heat guns. I believe it was about the lowest priced product with these features as well, and being Dewalt I figured the performance and quality would be above average. I'm glad I got these features, as they have come in handy to adjust the heat just the way you want it. So far I've used it to mold 1/8" Kydex sheets and for electrical shrink tubing. It has performed these tasks very well. The adjustable fan and heat allow you to tailor the heat output to the job and not overdo it. I can't speak to longevity, I've only had it a couple of months. Edit 3/28/14: I've now used the gun more. I find it works very well for electrical shrink tubing, and I have used it to heat up pressed fit bearings for installation and removal - I like it vs using a torch with a flame - less likely to damage paint/finish of the part. I would buy this product again. Read more
The best feature of this heat gun is that the black bars under neath the pistol grip is a fold out stand. This allows you to stand it on the butt end instead of the side so that you don't accidentally burn anything putting it on its side, and you can even turn it on while in this position to wave the heat shrink or what ever above the tip while heating it. Adjustable temp but it had no temp settings just minus or plus as you turn it to either direction, and two tips included are great, wish the downsizing tip was a little smaller opening but it works. There is a loop to hang the heat gun as well at the base of the cable, the power cable is heavy duty, as you expect from Dewalt. just a nice heat gun, all around. Read more
Another item that is great. I've had the copycat.I think it's mastercraft ones from china. And they just burn out they don't last maybe a year. This thing is very worth the money love it. Read more
I've bought two of these. One for myself YEARS ago that is still working very well. And just now this second one because the 200$ one that the older gent holding my position with my company used to buy. That one broke down twice over since I've been here. This one is way less and works way better. Read more
