This mount was very easy to figure out and use. To attach it is very easy, and despite the fact that the mounting arms and mechanism holding them feel rather cheap, we have used it at least a dozen times so far without a problem. It is easy to detach and stick under a seat, even with the DVD player attached. Unlike another reviewer, my player does not have a swivel screen so accessing the controls is not ideal, but once you stick the DVD in and hit 'play' or 'play all', you don't need to do much else. After two times, you have memorized the location of 'on', 'off', and the volume controls. On my car (a crossover SUV), the screen is kind of high for my 2 and 4 year old to view comfortably, something solved easily by tilting the screen down (making it more 'closed'). In my spouse's car, a mid-size sedan, it was much more at their eye-level without pushing it down. The hook and loop closures (velcro) work well, and hold the player securely. The only issue I have, and it is minor and situation specific, is that after leaving it in a 95 degree car for a few hours, the glue holding the velcro in place sort of melted, and when I opened it to change the DVD, it came off. I was able to stick it back in place, but since then it has been a little less 'stuck'. I foresee having to Gorilla glue it myself in the near future. Read more
This works just fine with our portable dvd player in our f250 for long trips. Installing it is a bit choppy - I’m worried every time I out it up that I’m going to slip and hit my husband- the driver - in the head, but so far, so good! It folds up compactly enough to put in our dvd case. Read more
We are going on a driving trip, and I wanted a mount for our portable DVD player in the car. All the ones I had seen previously were held on by webbing straps and not really secure. They flip easily and never quite stay in the right position. I saw this and liked the fact that it's held on much more stiffly. When I got it, I was extremely happy with it. Both arms are on springs, so they are always the exact tension they need to be, no flopping around. The base is very stable and the straps to hold the portable DVD on are adjustable for any size player. The base swivels slightly, so if one child is playing, the other one can watch. It literally took 1 minute to install in my car. I am not kidding! You know that feeling you get when you get the item you bought does EXACTLY what you want it to do? That slightly euphoric feeling that finally, someone made a product that worked? That's what I felt when I got this in the mail. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to mount a DVD player in the car. Could not ask for a better product. Read more
This is the 4 th dvd player headrest mount I’ve tried. It seemed great at first, then I looked in my rear view mirror and. You can’t see ! Would be perfect if it was lower . Read more
I have bought and used several types of mounts. This is by far my favorite! It is sturdy and stays put. And more importantly, it keeps the DVD player steady while driving and keeps it just out of reach of those little hands (when they are buckled in, at least. We transferred ours back and forth from each car so many times that it eventually wore out a bit and the velcro came loose. But I immediately bought another one. Love it! Updated in Aug 2016: After a couple of years, our first mount started to get a little loose. But we were constantly moving it around from car to car, so it was getting "stretched out". We were so happy with it, that we immediately bought another. This second one has lasted for three years and still works like new, because we never move it. Very highly recommended! Read more
We use this in our mini-van on day-long trips. It is not the sturdiest product one can imagine, but it has held up well over 2 years of occassional use. It is strong enough to hold the 7" DVD player, and even the external battery pack (we usually use on airplanes) when its not convinient to plug the DVD into the car. My brother-in-law, who lives in europe, was impressed enough with how it kept my 4 and 3 year old quiet for 9 hours (multi-episode home-made DVDs of their favorites, like Sesame Street, lasting 3-4 hours are great!) that he asked us to send him one and we did. It mounts instantly and easily in any car or van with front headrests on metal "stalks", and "sags" at just the right angle for viewing, and may be turned a few degrees left or right. One caveat, shown but not stressed in the simple instruction sheet, is that when you slide in the legs to store it, they MUST be turned on their little turntable mount so they slide exactly into protective braces. If they aren't, they're subject to breakage with very little force. Read more
We purchased this for long car rides with the kids. It attaches very easily (easy to take down if you go into a restaurant - just unhook and leave the DVD player attached, stick it under the seat) also easy to attach the dvd player. It does wiggle some but won't fall off, doesn't bother the kids and the dvd screen is adjustable so compensates. The only little pain is that when I swivel the screen to face me (to get it going for the kids) you have to tug on the elastic strap - it catches under the screen - no way around that really. ALSO - I actually installed it into the car backwards (on purpose!) so that the contols of the DVD face me, swivel the screen to face the backseat - works great that way. All-in-all was a very good value and much better than a pile of straps! We will use it for a long time to come. Read more
I think that the idea was great. It has it's function... but it's really flimsy. The plastic connections are hollow, so it feels like it's going to snap easily! I think that they should go back to the drawing board and make it better. It's a buy because you have to, more than anything. For the price, it's okay. Overall, if there is something, anything in the market that may be an option - get that one instead! Read more
