Overall, I really like this DVD player and use it daily. I needed one because I was tired of streaming and dealing with ads, and not finding what I wanted on streaming services. So now I am back to using DVDs, and this has made a huge difference in allowing me to watch them more easily. The large display makes a big difference compared to smaller portable players. The picture quality is clear and sharp, and colors look vibrant without being overly saturated. It plays DVDs smoothly and loads them quickly. There’s no long waiting time once you insert a disc. It’s very lightweight and portable. The stainless steel stand on the back feels sturdy and well-made. I like that you can adjust it to different angles so it stays upright whether it’s on a table or mounted to a headrest. The headrest setup is simple as well. The controls are easy to use and responsive. There are dedicated buttons to skip scenes, go back to the menu, pause, and navigate quickly, which makes it simple to operate without always needing the remote. I also like that it remembers where you left off. When you turn it off and back on, it resumes right where you stopped, which is very convenient. The battery lasts about 3 to 4 hours on continuous play, which is accurate in my experience. That’s enough for most car rides without needing to recharge constantly. The sound from the built-in speaker is clear and loud enough for a car environment, and you can also use headphones if preferred. One small thing to note is the placement of the DVD port on the back. If you’re right-handed like I am and tend to grab the player from the right side to move it, it’s easy to accidentally press the disc compartment and open it, which stops the movie. It’s not a major issue, but it’s something to be aware of. I wish the DVD port were more towards the center of the back to prevent this issue. This portable dvd player has a wonderful, huge screen. We did have a couple of DVDs that did not play on it, like they weren’t compatible. But other than that, they played very well. Overall this device is overall pretty decent. Its not the best but its good in its own right. Lets start with some flaws, I hate the speaker placement of this. Why manufacturers think we have ears that are behind the device and thn decide to place the speakers on the back. Instead of the front. Its not as if the bezels are thin so there is no excuse like "it's to small to have speakers" I and many people do not care about it since it ruins sound quality. When you get this change the video playback in the settings to PAS. It will improve the video playback. Another issue is the plug in ability. Less and less devices are using Rf cables, its nice to have them but these days people use hdmi, as I lack a t.v. or monitor that has that input so I cannot say if my unit can connect. Now onto the things I liked. The screen looks decent though suffers from some parallax issues. While plastic it feels fine, not durable but sturdy to handle some movie nights on a fairly large screen. The fact it can have multiple play methods is good. We got this HotHat 14.1” portable car DVD player for long drives and it has honestly been such a good buy. The screen is a really nice size and way bigger than I expected which makes it easy for everyone in the backseat to see without fighting over it. The picture quality is clear and bright and the sound is surprisingly good even without headphones. It was super easy to set up. We just strapped it onto the headrest popped a DVD in and it was ready to go. It feels sturdy and not flimsy which is important when you have kids handling it. The buttons are simple to use and the remote makes it even more convenient from the front seat. Battery life has been solid and it also works great plugged into the car charger so no worries about it dying halfway through a movie. It plays our DVDs without any issues and hasn’t skipped or frozen. If you travel a lot or just want some peace and quiet on errands this is definitely worth it. The media could not be loaded. I am very impressed with this DVD player. I tested it using an SD card, a USB drive, and a DVD disc, and all three worked perfectly without any issues. The picture quality is clear right out of the box, and after adjusting the display settings to my preference, the colors were vibrant and sharp. Navigation is straightforward. While you can use the buttons on the device itself, it’s definitely easier and more convenient to use the remote. We were able to watch an entire movie using the charge it came with straight out of the box, which was a pleasant surprise. I’m not sure exactly how long it takes to fully charge since we left it plugged in overnight, but it was fully charged by morning. The only real downside is that it doesn’t come with a storage case. We ended up placing it in a 16-inch laptop sleeve, and it fit perfectly along with a few DVDs and all the cords. Read more
Make sure your charge it first. Will not play Blu-ray, only standard DVD. The disc drive is awkward as it's in the back which is good in a way if using with kids. Uses a remote or can be operated without. Read more
