I purchased this for an upcoming house-based wedding reception. Fits into a standard med base light bulb socket, so most lamps will work. For best results remove your lamp shade to get the full effects of the bulb. Bulb has two rotating colored LED rings that shine through a plastic faceted globe on each side. The bulb itself does not rotate. The lights do not strobe, so this may be a safer choice for more public parties in places like a church or school. This would probably work best if used in a ceiling light with the shade and other bulbs removed, since the pattern would be most evenly distributed that way. But for us, it looks like we'll be using our floor lamp - the pattern on the wall that is closest to the lamp is different and more concentrated than the pattern on the far wall... but it really doesn't matter since it's all still fun and festive. I received this quickly with no damage. It comes in a surprisingly sturdy retail type box, so it would make a pretty gift for someone who likes to have parties. I'm planning on putting this in my suitcase for a party and an Airbnb and I'm happy for the sturdy box. The bulb and globe covers are plastic and seem sturdy, so I'm less worried about the potential of breakage. I'll add a video soon. We just tested out the light when we had company over... Fun lighting ....Would be most effective (in my case at least) on floor lamp as lights are not reflected on the ceiling but out of the sides. Cool effect. Nice & bright. Read more
These are pretty cool lights. Fragile for sure! They both light up but one of them is cracked and they both have scratch marks on the ends near the screws as if they are pre-owned though they are supposed to be new. The crack is likely from shipping or my mailman throwing the package at my doorstep which I caught on camera. Read more
I have an affinity for fun, colorful lights, and these are great! It is a standard fit, like any light bulb you find in the store. I love that it works with electricity, so you never have to worry about batteries. First thing I tried was a standing lamp, and I was amazed at how far the lights reached! The colors were visible in both my living and dining rooms. (see photos) I also tried it on a lamp without a shade, and it made really cool patterns on the nearby wall. With the shade on, naturally it has a much more subtle effect, and it makes a pretty pattern on the shade. Lastly, I tried it on a recessed ceiling light. This was the most subtle, like a hidden surprise, which you don't notice until you are sitting nearby. I can't wait to use this when I'm entertaining! I'm sure it will be a conversation starter. The only small downside is that there is a little noise from the motor when it's spinning, but even soft music would cover this up. You have to really pay attention to hear it. Purchased for a home karaoke lounge setup. The unit worked wonderfully! It filled our one car garage with wonderfully colorful swirling lights It's made of pretty lightweight plastic so use care in handling it. I don't think it would survive a fall onto an uncarpeted floor surface. Also, I needed to tighten the screw on one globe and hour or so in as it loosened itself while spinning. The media could not be loaded. I bought this light to use at our band's rehearsal space to liven it up a bit, and so far it's been a hit! It really gives off spectacular lighting especially when it's used in a darker room. The housing is plastic, and the overall construction seems like it will hold up if you are not hard on it. Installation is as simple as threading this bulb into just about any standard lamp fixture. The colorful light is output brightly and will fill a medium sized room if you have it darkened.
