Was purchased as a gift. Hefty/sturdy black plastic. Yet sleek in design. Item is appropriate for small sink/countertop spaces (apartment/senior living spaces, camper, etc). Not like the *dish racks* from back-in-the-day. The *water spout* assembles (snaps on) from underneath and works quite well re: drainage.
