I've been using this system on my doberman for over a year. It was inexpensive and works perfectly. I rarely go over 3/4 on the dial and rarely zap her. The vibration gets her attention and she stops pulling. On a one acre meadow off leash I can get her attention to come back to me. It has a long charge too. So I wanted to update my review on this collar. I've owned it exactly 3 months today and it is completely dead. I'm not sure if maybe I left the tab open slightly and it got a little bit of water inside when we went to the dog park or if it just died. But I can charge it and it will have the green light on showing that it's charging but as soon as you take it off the charger, it is completely dead so it doesn't do anything. It worked great up until about a week ago tho. So I have to invest in another one which I'm not happy about because I don't have a whole lot of money but my dog definitely needs a training collar still but my dog is very hard-headed LOL. So just wanted to give an update but I'm not sure if the fault is on me or the collar itself. I rescued my pitbull a year and a half ago and as much as I love him & wouldn't trade him for the world... he is very energetic, very stubborn, very strong, & very hard for me to handle. I got this collar so I can take him to the dog park to get some of his energy out. I think it works wonderful! I love the fact that you can take the prongs off the collar or put them on to use the shocker. I've had to use the shocker maybe twice and my dog just knows now that vibrate gets his attention. The battery is long-lasting & the range on it is actually alot better than I thought it would be! He does get in the water at the park so I just make sure that the closure is on the battery charger on the collar. It closes tight & I've had no problems with it. So far, this has been a great device that's helping us train my son's big dog from jumping on us and getting in our faces. It hasn't taken long for him to get the message that this is an undesired behavior. I've used the vibrate mode as a warning prior to shock mode. Shock mode is a last resort. He definitely doesn't like shock mode, so he's been catching on quickly. We follow up with lots of verbal praise and "good boy" pats. It's been helping with incessant barking and trying to charge at the neighbors as they walk by (he's securely fastened to a tie-down while outdoors). Read more
