FIRST, I LOVE THIS SELLER! I received the stock email asking if I was satisfied with my order. By stock I mean I get them frequently (but not from every transaction) and it's basically asking that if I have any problems I contact them. I replied letting them know I very much like my mat (more on this). The surprise was that they answered my reply! I cannot recall any other seller ever replying and thanking me for my input. Usually these inquiries seem automatic, but with this seller I felt like an actual customer, not just a transaction. OK NOW FOR MY REVIEW of the DogBuddy Dog Food Mat. I don't have a dog. I do have cats, but I bought this mat for another purpose and it is FANTASTIC and perfect. I have a dehydrator and I use both guillotine and mandoline slicers to cut the fruit or meat into thin slices for dehydration. I was using a large plastic serving tray underneath the slicers as a way to capture not only the slices but also all the juices and bits. If I don't use a tray, then my kitchen counter would be a mess. After I dropped and broke the serving tray, I did consider using a baking sheet but I didn't have one of the size needed with a lip to hold in the juices. I decided to look for alternative and my Amazon searches came up with this dog food mat. I LOVE THIS MAT! Silicone material makes it easy to clean. You can buy the size you need; the size I purchased is roomy enough to fit the slicers plus space to set down containers, knives, rags, etc. The thickness of the mat is robust and feels sturdy and it still rolls up easily for storage which is a huge plus. I do not cut on this mat; I use a thin cutting board on top of the mat if trimming anything. The lip of the tray is high enough to contain juices and low enough to not interfere with my activities. When I'm done slicing I can gather up the mat, drape it in my sink, and it washes clean beautifully. I then drape it over my dish rack to dry before storing. OTHER USES I think this mat could also be considered as useful for a child's crafting station. Put it on the table and you have a great surface on which they can use anything messy. I wish I would have bought this mat years ago. The edge is the right height for containing spilled water and the size is perfect. It is easy to rinse or wipe off for cleaning. I highly recommend this if you want to protect your floor. You still need to check underneath from time-to-time in case water spilled outside of it, in order to wipe it dry, but overall, this is a good quality mat. Read more
I ordered the size Large mat 3 months ago and I'm so happy with this purchase. I use it for my cat's feeding area and it keeps everything contained. The lip around the edge is thick and pretty substantial. He can be a messy eater so I don't have to worry about any crumbs falling or water spilling. The mat has some weight to it and stays in place perfectly. The large size is great for holding a small dry food bowl, his fountain, and a small plate for wet food. It's really easy to clean too, I just wipe it down or take it to the sink to scrub if needed. I can definitely see this lasting a long time. There are no signs of wear after 3 months of daily use. Update Feb 2022: This mat is still going strong! It still has no signs of wear and I bought another one for my senior dog who is an extremely messy eater. She prefers to drop all of her food on the mat and then eat it. I bought a toddler suction cup OXO bowl to make eating easier for her and it suctions nicely to the mat. I'm using this under my messy Boxer's large water pan. I had a rug there but he is such a slobber face that I couldn't keep up with the wet floor. I have a smaller mat for my Yorkie that I like so found this large one. It works quite well for our needs; keeps the floor dry until I can mop up the mat and also contains his kibble when he drops it at feeding time. He's horribly messy but he's the best boy! The first few days it didn't want to lay flat on the floor and had air pockets underneath but that has resolved. I have no idea what caused that. I do wish it was a few inches wider cause when he's really thirsty, the area at the top and bottom doesn't contain all the slopping. But I'm happy with it; so much better than a soppy rug. I may buy another one and put two of them lengthwise next to each other to catch ALL the sloppies from my messy boy. Read more
Very easy to clean! I’m going to get a third one so that each cat has their own. They need lots of space to make a mess when they eat LOL. I didn’t get the biggest one (my black cat is a tiny 3 pound runt) because I figure I could get 2 of the large ones and they would be easier to clean in the kitchen sink but so far I’ve only needed to wipe clean with a damp paper towel. My cats actually like to stand on them so they must feel good to their little paws. The shadow (dark gray) is a beautiful color, slightly bluish, goes well with my gray barn-wood tile floor. And I especially like that they are soft because several times I’ve accidentally stepped on the edge and it did not hurt my foot or the mat. Read more
I love my dog, but she is a major slob. She drips water all over the floor, slobbers, she drops food all over. We were desperate to find something that would keep her food and water contained. I tried some mats without edges, but they didn't work. The water just dripped over and under and made an even bigger mess under the mat. This one has a lip on it and it keeps her water and other messes on the mat and off my new floor. This is slob-proof. I highly recommend it! Read more
This is a great product! It is exactly as the seller described and was delivered quickly. The size (24 in x 16 in) is perfect for our 2 cats and small dog to share. It will be a great help in keeping pet food crumbs contained. I found out after I got it that it is dishwasher safe!! That is a bonus!! It is easy to clean by hand though.
