Great products at a fraction of the cost.
I ordered the package with 1 handle, 4 blades, 1 shaving cream, 1 pre shave scrub and a post shave lotion for about $25. Probably would have stuck with my normal shaving setup but I couldn’t find blades in stock anymore. The supermarket was always out and CVS charged an arm and a leg the four-pack. And you had to find someone to open the razor blade vault to buy them. So I decided to try out Dollar Shave. My facial growth is moderately thick and I had two days worth when I used the products. The exfoliating pre-shave scrub did very well and removed oil and skin buildup from around my forehead and cheeks leaving my skin feeling very clean. The shave cream was luxurious and let the blades glide over my two day beard very smoothly. The blades were very effective and caused no irritation. The post shave cream was nice but I honestly feel the scrub and shaving cream were enough. Good news though, it did not irritate my skin like other brands do and it is clearly marked for sensitive skin. I am writing this review a full 10 hours after using the products and face still feels clean, fresh and moisturized. Can’t wait to use this stuff before a long flight. A couple of items of note. The blade/handle combo doesn’t feel terribly substantial. Not necessarily a bad thing but the feel of it is more disposable if that makes sense. Also, attaching a blade to the handle is a bit awkward. You basically push the post on the handle into the base of the new blade and it stays but there is no satisfying “click” that gives you the assurance it is attached. Additionally, when mounted, the blade head has a very wide range of motion and will tilt back almost flat. Something to look out for during your first few strokes. These are just observations, not complaints…just letting you know things are slightly different from something like the Gillette Mach 5. I used a very generous amount of the shaving cream. It has the consistency of toothpaste so I think a strip about as big as a Hershey’s kiss would do the job on a days facial growth. The shaving cream goes a really, really long way. I will use it more sparingly on my next shave. Another side note on price. I have paid more than quadruple for what came in the box and everything I used was great for the purpose it served.
