Let's be real here. Shooters, particularly sci-fi fps's are a VERY over saturated market. Though DOOM could stand out with the name alone as one of the series that helped define the genre, this game goes far beyond branding to sell itself. It raises the bar for violence, intensity, speed, brutality, and absurdity unlike any other game on the market right now. It doesn't need to rely on the big name. It reminds you why it's a big name in the first place. This is one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've had in a long time. This is DOOM for the modern era, succeeding in blending old school feel with cutting edge visuals and level design. Graphics are incredible, and performance is magnificent with a very steady 60fps. That, paired with extremely precise controls, make this game a dream to play. If you're familiar with DOOM I and II, you'll have no problem settling in and crushing demons at a break neck pace. If all you know is DOOM 3, this is nothing like that. This is a whirlwind of blood, guts, and shotgun shells. Don't buy thinking you're getting a horror game. As for the collector's items, the case is awesome with a nice, metallic finish with the lovely Revenant upon it. The statue stands a foot tall, and is every bit as detailed as the in-game model - a must have for every DOOM lover. It's constructed of flexible pvc, so you needn't worry about it getting chipped or broken. It lights up, the fan rotates, and looks awesome. In short, if you want to be the most badass space marine in the history of video games, this is for you. Read more

Very happy to find this collectors edition months later at such a low price. Everything about this is awesome. The game itself is one of the best and most surprising shooters of 2016. Intense action, controls, animations and overall experience. Everything about the gameplay is FAST. Its like your traditional shooters sped up 1.5X. If you stop moving and shooting, you're gonna die...A LOT. I suggest you keep the game on normal difficulty and adjust instead of nerfing it to easy mode. The checkpoints are well placed but you're gonna have to work to achieve them. Its not as punishing as something like dark souls, but its a quite a few steps up from "call of duty". If you're a casual gamer chances are you will not follow through and complete the campaign. I have not tried easy mode but on normal its a nice challenge. The collectors edition package is a great value. PHYSICAL copy in a steelbook case. For those curious the steelbook case is the same size as the traditional plastic game cases for the PS4 version. So it WILL fit nicely in your shelf and not be obtuse like the special edition Toom Raider case. (I know that bugs some people). The statue is an 8/10. Well worth it at this pricepoint. Would have liked to see it a bit brighter to be honest. The color contrast of the statue is very saturated and wet looking in the advertisement compared to seeing it in person. Its very high quality and sturdy. battery powered fan and red LED lighting with a hidden on/off switch on the side of the base hidden by a removable plastic cover. I'm not impressed with the LED lighting so I removed the batteries so I dont forget them in the base to find a leaky mess 3 years down the line. Overall I HIGHLY recommend this package at this pricepoint. Read more

Bought for both PS4 and PC It's hands down better on PC! Does it look better on PC? Of course that's shocking to most I know why would a $1000 video card have the unfair advantage of producing a better image than a hybrid on board video card like what's in the $400 PS4 right? Makes no sense. Would it look better on a $400 PC? Yeah! Of course ...but only for taking still screen shots wouldn't actually be playable. All that aside the game looks and runs amazing on PS4 my choice for keeping it on PC has nothing to do with the visuals it's the controls this is one of those games that's just meant to be driven with a keyboard and mouse hell for whatever reason the ps4 controller on my steam link is more responsive and smoother playing this than it was playing the ps4 version! The controls for this game on ps4 and I'd assume xbone just aren't very good. It's not polished and responsive like COD even though I hate that game. Buy it on PC stream it to the big screen and play with your dual shock if that's the experience your looking for. I didn't like the sloppy controls already beat and sold the game for PS4. The statue is really cool though no doubt! Read more

Everybody forgets Doom 64 was ever created, and it was the last real doom game. However, the newest installment is exactly what I had hoped it would be. Doom is engaging enough for newcomers to the franchise but retains everything that made the originals awesome. It is relentlessly focused on combat and making combat interesting. Like the old games, there is no reloading. There is no aiming down the sights. Those actions slow a game down and the goal of doom is to rip through demons as quickly as possible to make it to the end of the level. This game rocks. It just rocks. As a fan of the franchise since the beginning, playing secret shareware floppies in the 90s because my parents said I couldn't have the game because Current Affair or some s*** told them it was too violent...this game brings my love back for the FPS genre. The campaign is solid and replay able. Bethesda and ID rocked it this time around. So worth the purchase price. I hope they don't lose sight of what Doom is supposed to be again! Read more
