First timer impressed by effectiveness

Bulky knee braces were my first go to just a couple of years ago when I started having more and more issues. Man I thought I really leveled up when I discovered slinky slip fit compression knee socks that would always seems to slip during the day. Then I discovered Dr Dee Pre-Cut Kinesiology Knee Tape 12 Pieces (9"×10″) and decided to give it a go for obvious reasons. The comparison is none! It works just like you think, the knee tape peels off of a backing and the tape is placed sticky side to the skin. Pull, place, tighten, tug, and adjust to where the tension is needed, much like a sports wrap or Ace bandage. It wears throughout the day without slipping. The relief stays focused. These pre-cut pieces are so easy to use and bring a whole new experience to the style of relief. Thin tape with no bulky pads that stays in place with no slipping. Sianara predecessors. Read more

It Worked Like A Charm

The product came in very well packaged. There's 4 different color to choose from, 3 each with a total of 12pcs. It's such a great deal. I'm a server and have been dealing with knee pain for quite some time from working 6-8 hours every day. I hate wearing knee brace because it is too bulky to my liking so knee tape is definitely the solution I wanted to try. The size is accurate. The package came with a clear and easy to follow instruction. The tape is thin and stretchy. It's so easy to use and stretch to where it helps support my knee. The adhesive is very strong. It stayed on without moving around at all. It didn't hurt my skin at all when I removed it. I was very surprised that this thin fabric and give me this much support. It has such high quality. My favorite part is that it has a cutout design on the back of the tape to help me remove the tape sectionally since it tape is thin so I had to be very careful to not get it tangled up. It worked way better than I expected for sure. Overall, it's such a life saver I needed at a very affordable price. Highly recommended. Read more

Run-of-the-mill knee precut tape, unfriendly backing paper

Surgery for a meniscus tear after a mountaineering accident, left me years later with a knee that gets sore upon some high-demand activities, during which I now routinely rely on kinesiology tape [KT] to be more aware of the positioning of the affected leg. This white-label precut knee KT set, made in China by an unspecified manufacturer, is sold by Tovo Store LLC (Australia) under its pending Dr Dee trademark brand. Tovo's marketing claim that the product has been designed in its country is debunked by the high volume of the mass-produced, identical product rebranded across Amazon and, especially, the main Chinese wholesale platform. The 12 pieces are knee precuts in the shape of an upside-down Greek letter *pi*. Described here as being 9 x 10", they are smaller by around 1/4" in both dimensions. The backing paper is perforated at three places, shown by dashed blue lines in figure A. When testing one precut, its backing paper did not release cleanly over the pi's horizontal bar, with several parts of what seemed an inner ply stubbornly sticking to the tape -- to me, this would be inconvenient if having to change a precut in the field, since it interferes with a smooth application of the tape. Whether other precuts do the same was not checked. During a 24-hour test, the precut performed as expected, did not cause skin irritation and was removed under a hot shower with no issues. Currently, the price is in the mid-to-upper region of the price range of identical precuts sold on this platform. In my experience, three prepping items do promote lasting tape applications. The applied tape must be rubbed vigorously to secure attachment, as KT adhesive is heat activated. The adhesive side ought not be touched when peeling the backing paper or applying the tape, as skin oils diminish adherence. And the tape's ends must NOT be applied exerting tension, as otherwise they will likely peel off within a short time, or, if not, cause skin traction blisters. Keep in mind, KT is not a brace or compression device. Its objective is to give the knee a proprioceptive "hug" (that is, a sense of position and movement without visual cues) to remind the brain to stabilize that specific spot. To me, the best taping method is: [1] clean the skin with rubbing alcohol to remove oils -- I also shave hair around the front of the knee, as it helps tape adhesion and avoids an unwelcome "waxing" later (my triathlon-enthusiast sister says olive oil is good to dissolve KT glue) ; [2] with the knee bent at a 90° angle, [3] remove the backing paper off the area marked 2 in figure A and the initial bit of areas 4 and 5 (see figure B), and [4] apply that part just below the knee on its tuberosity -- not yet applying the ends 1 and 3 helps if tape repositioning is needed) ; [5] remove the paper off the pi's "arm" on the medial side of the knee (arm 4 for a right knee, 5 for a left one -- this is the side easier to see and, thus, to start), and apply the tape strap towards the lower thigh, curving it around the kneecap -- a weak tension may be exerted initially on the strap, but NO tape tension should be used above the kneecap, gently applying the strap's end over the skin ; [6] do the same for the other arm ; and, finally, [7] apply ends 1 and 3 to the infrapatellar region of the lower leg, also with NO tension exerted on them. When the precut is properly applied, and the leg is straight, the kneecap's visible skin should be quite wrinkled and loose. Other KT precut shapes and taping knee methods are also in use. YMMV. ~~ Read more

Infuriating backing

This is a low quality KT tape. The perforations are supposed to make it easier to tear, but they are incomplete, so the backing does NOT rip off. You end up pulling so hard that the tape snaps back and sticks to itself. The backing is an impossible challenge to take off. If you succeed in getting the backing off, you will find that this product stretches infinitely but does not retract like normal KT tape. It does not provide the support or pain relief that is needed. You could achieve better tension by hooking regular bandaids together. This off-brand product is not worth the savings. Read more

Knee support

This is nice kinesiology tape. I messed up my knee about 6 months ago and I’ve been having to offer it a little extra support every so often. Some days, this is as much as a full knee brace, other days it’s just a pain relieving cream. It feels like this tape is a middle ground. I have regular kinesiology tape but I can never get it stuck just like I want it. This takes the guesswork out of cutting and placing the tape. I’m not exercising in these, so I don’t know how it would hold up in those conditions but I am using it for long days when I’m on my feet for too long and this tape works really well for that and lasts through the day for ne. It sticks well but also comes off easily enough when I’m ready to remove it. As of this writing, these precut tapes are just over a dollar each which, in my opinion, worth the time, hassle, and frustration id of trying to cut and place my own just right. Read more

Convenience makes things fast and easy

I really appreciated the convenience of this pre-cut kinesiology tape. Having it ready-to-use made the whole process a lot smoother. While there was a bit of a learning curve when it came to getting the application just right, after a few tries, I got the hang of it. Once applied properly, it gave my knee some much-needed support, and I could definitely feel the difference! Read more
