The shave butter a the aftershave both smell amazing. Aftershave lotion works fantastic and hydrates the skin really well. Shave butter has good glide. But honestly requires a lot more butter for a good shave than you’d expect it to. Works well. Just needs a lot. But the smell is insane. I love love love it. Read more

I have been using this the past few months to shave my head with my pitbull electric razor and it works really well. Makes the razor glide smoothly and I have not had issues with razor bumps. The soothing post shave balm has been working well to soothe and prevent dryness and also smells wonderful. I was concerned that the post shave balm would be irritating to my scalp since its not really meant for that and I do have pretty sensitive skin but it has not been an issue. I ordered this because my regular shave cream was out of stock and I like a few of the other Dr. Squatch products (their toothpaste is the best.) Sad to say I am not a huge fan of this shaving "butter." This stuff quickly absorbs into your skin and doesn't form any type of protective lather. It's like shaving with lotion. I felt the razor scrape against my skin and I soon saw blood on it. The instructions say to use a nickel-size amount, but in reality you need about 10 nickels worth to not feel like you are shaving with lotion. My second time using it I added a large amount of the stuff and it worked much better, though it did get rough towards the end as this stuff quickly gets absorbed by your skin leaving it exposed. With my regular shave cream I only need a small amount to make a nice protective lather; the amount I need with this stuff would make me go through the bottle rather quickly. As for the scent...it is okay. It actually smells sweet like candy and not much like bourbon...maybe bourbon with a ton of amaretto added. It is for sure not a "manly" scent...though I did like the way it made my shower smell after I rinsed it off. On a positive note the post-shave lotion is quite nice. It does burn like your dad's after-shave though. After my first time shaving with the not-so-easy-glide butter my skin was raw and red like roast beef. I used the soothing post-shave lotion and my skin actually felt better and the redness went away. So for that I gave this 3 stars...1 for the butter and 2 for the post-shave lotion. Once I am done with the set I ordered I will not be re-ordering it. Bottom line for me is that it doesn't protect my skin while shaving and the scent is too sweet for my taste. Read more
