Dragon’s Dogma 2 is everything a fan of high-fantasy action RPGs could ask for—bold, immersive, and endlessly rewarding. Capcom has delivered a sequel that builds upon the cult classic foundations of the original while elevating nearly every element to new heights. One of the standout features of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the brilliant Pawn system, which lets you journey with up to three AI-controlled companions. These aren’t your average NPC followers—they’re dynamic, adaptive, and incredibly helpful. Whether you're diving into combat with a towering cyclops or navigating winding forest paths, your Pawns feel like genuine allies. Their presence makes every encounter feel more tactical and engaging. What’s particularly impressive is how these companions do more than just fight. They actively guide you toward quest objectives, point out landmarks, and even remember solutions to past puzzles or enemy weaknesses. It’s a refreshing change from the usual “follow the waypoint” gameplay; instead, the world feels alive and organically navigable thanks to your Pawns’ insights. Even more rewarding is how they help you uncover hidden resources and treasure chests. Exploring the vast, beautifully realized open world becomes a constant joy when you’ve got a team that’s always scouting, pointing out herbs, mining spots, and secret stashes tucked away in ruins or cliffside crevices. The combat is visceral and satisfying, with a range of vocations and skills that let you tailor your playstyle. The world is challenging, but not punishing—thanks largely to your loyal companions who provide support, strategy, and the occasional life-saving intervention. In short, Dragon’s Dogma 2 isn’t just a game—it’s an adventure with a party that feels like your own. Whether you're a returning fan or brand new to the series, this is a journey well worth taking. *First off: yes microtransactions exist but they are way overblown. You would not even know they existed if you didnt check the psn store for addons or listein to the discourse. Dragons Dogma 2 is the latest interation of the cult series that stays memorable yet adds enough to spice up the experience. Dd2 has 10 playable vocations (classes) which focus on 1 weapon with 10 levels each that all play unique. Adding onto that you have 4 skill slots to customize your vocation to your playstyle or task at hand. The most unique aspect of Dragons Dogma, the pawn system, a customizable AI party member that follows you on your journey as well as 2 other recruitable AI you rent from other players to assist your adventure, has gotten better with my pawns feeling more like party members I am adventuring with rather then moving storage boxes that sometimes heal me. The world is a vast playground to explore in which will probably be your make or break decision on this game. Dd2 is very old school in its open world mechanics- one save that must be deleted if you wish to start a new game, teleporting is done through rare expendable items, fast travel is done by paying for a real time cart ride (though it can be skipped during the trip) , item weight can quickly stack up while gatheting mats leading to stamina issues while running through the world, damage is cumulative meaning you lose permanent max HP until you rest at a campsite or inn, etc. All in all Dragons Dogma 2 is an old school action rpg that improves upon the last game without losing any of the uniqueness (and jankiness) that made the original Dragons Dogma stand out and become a cult classic. It boggles my mind that there’s no nuance with the negative reviews, they just want to complain about optional transactions and minor graphical issues (I haven’t noticed anything glaring and my boyfriend actually was impressed as an idle observer). While I do have extremely minor qualms with not having multiple save files, I feel like the negative reviews I’ve seen really aren’t representative of the experience. I’ve plugged away at this game for a good 60+ hours and keep wanting to go back to it. It’s fun to explore the world which feels more vast than the first, has an extensive character creator, several quests to undertake, an ox cart system to get to and from settlements more quickly, and opportunities to try out several different vocations and their abilities. It’s so rewarding when you defeat a challenging enemy, and the game offers creative solutions to problems, like levitating to get to a chest or using an ice spell to create platforms etc. Tons of equipment to try, and ingredients to harvest and combine. It retains what I loved about the first one while adding quality of life features that make things more convenient, like a home you can buy to rest at for free, and campsites as well. I’m truly having a blast. Just try it for yourself and don’t let one-sided negative reviews dissuade you. Read more

Highly immersive and addictive gameplay. It’s very easy to switch combat style for your main character which makes it really enjoyable to try different gear and combat styles. The storyline unfortunately falls short and that’s why I gave it 4/5. But otherwise, I highly recommend this game. Read more

Game arrived in perfect condition. Entertainment is subjective, so I’ll just simply say I enjoyed it. If you liked Dragons Dogma and Dark Arisen, you’ll probably like this too. Read more
