This oil filled radiator heater is a basic model. However, it functions quietly without any oil smell. Since none of the oil radiators have a continuous timer like the old one which we are replacing, I chose this one and hooked up an appliance timer so that it will turn on and off the same time each night and morning. There is no remote, and that saves a lot of money. It also has a safety feature which will turn off the heater if it were to tip over. I am running it at 600 watts which is adequate for Northern California winters. Turn the dial to select the temperature of the room and leave it, and it will keep the temperature even all night. This heater is very economical in that it only turns on to maintain the warmth of the oil inside. Therefore, the heater is only using electricity periodically through the night which saves electricity use. Then the thermostat for the whole house can be lowered as the bedroom is kept warm. Works great! Nice and sleek looking. Radiator heaters take a little bit to warm up but once they do they warm up the whole room. So we turn it on in the morning and we don't have to use the wall heater at all. It's awesome! Read more

Bought this Dreo oil filled heater, with the 2 knobs, not the digital temp display and remote. I got the basic one because when this unit looses power and comes back up it will keep the same settings, just the 2 knobs that stay put, Old school is sometimes better. This will also stay in the heat mode that is set, and will not run at 1500 watts when you may only want the low setting at 600 watts or mid setting at 900 watts. The digital models offered , were reviewed to start at 1500 watts for 40 min even though you had set to H1 Low heat. Which blew breakers for some people or overheated the small room. This model works perfect for me. If you really do not need to adjust the temp from your bed or couch get this one. As most reviews, the unit has oil oder for the first 2 or 3 times use on high temp setting. My only compaint is the dial. markings are just a dark mark on a dark dial, I took the liberty to put a little white paint were the dial marker is. Going to buy another one for our other bedroom soon, Photo is with a little white paint on the 2 controls to see the dial pointer better, Just mask off with masking tape and use a small brush, let dry and take off tape. Update, checked the output power on standby, low heat, medium heat and high heat On standby the unit drew no measureable power, which is great. , I got close to the rated 600 watts , I got 576 watts on low heat, rated 900 watts, I got 856 watts on medium, 1500 watts, I got 1445 watts on high, all close and acceptable, Your wattage will vary maybe up to 200 watts on high depending on the voltage coming in, if your circuit is loaded down and you only have 110v coming in, this unit puts out about 12 amps so 110v x 12 amps =1320 watts, if you have 125v coming in you may get 125v x 12amps =1500watts, So this unit is working as it is suppose to. I will post my finding photos. Over all this is a good unit, that just works great! If your doing heat on a smart timer, this heater will remember your settings, your temperature and heat level, Read more

Loved the warm, gentle heat and less pull on the electricity. But, it worked less than a week before it leaked a bunch of oil. Returned and am shopping for another brand. If you buy an oil-filled heater, put a pan under it to catch oil if it leaks. Thank heaven I followed a website's advice and did this otherwise I'd have oil all over my carpet. Read more

Purchased this to replace an older similar heater. Purchased based on the Dreo name, which seems to have good reviews. Yes, there is a new smell that does need yo be "burnt off". Per instructions... to run on high for 2-hours. Seems like a decent heater for the price. Time will tell how long this heater will work. There is no noise, unless, you want to count the light clicking when the thermostat cycles the heater. Read more

Heats up fast, but doesn't radiate outward so much, just upward. I owned a radiant heater 13 years ago, and after turning it on it soon radiated heat ACROSS the room in 15 mins. You could feel the waves of heat as it heated. It resembled an actual radiator. Sadly all the one in stores today are not even close. Mostly cheap and worthless ones unless maybe, you were to spend over $200.00. I got that one 13 years ago for $49.00 dollars. For semi small rooms this heater is good, but NOT for large rooms, unless you run it for a long long time. This one not worth the price. Read more
