First things first. Don't expect any major plumping (that's not what I bought it for anyway; I got it solely because of the color). The effect is very slight, but again I didn't mind. In terms of how it feels on the lips, the effect is not unlike that of a mentholated cough drop, sort of a cool tingle. There's no spicy heat, and it doesn't hurt at all. I'm very sensitive to such things, so if it was uncomfortable, or just hurt outright, I wouldn't hesitate to say so. I promise, it doesn't. The color is beautiful. It's a cool, dark brown, with a touch of gold and bluish-purple shimmer throughout. It's a lip oil, so the color is somewhat sheer, but you can layer more on. It's also not ultra glittery the way some of these lip oils are. The shimmer is definitely there, but it's subtle, which is what I prefer (big chunks of glitter aren't my thing anymore). I bought 2 shades of this tinted lip oil. This arrived 1st. I like lip oil/tinted gloss over straight tube lipstick. I put this on and there was an intensive burst of hot icey sensation I was not certain I was going to be able to wear this. And the color was perfect. After a few minutes it went to this wonderful cool sensation. Then slowly within the hour disappeared. 2nd time it was much less intense and was all cool sensation. The 3rd time I hardly took any notice at all. The plumping is on the hmmm conservative side. But I love the tint coloring. I wear it as a stand alone. elf products are really a great value. I am addicted to lip oils and glosses so if I can find them at a good price then I am happy. I think I carry at least 3 versions of the lip product in my purse at all times. The color is good and the hydration is even better.
