Unboxing these earrings reminded me of "OOBE" (Out of Box Experience) because it was an actual experience. They include an awesome gift bag and the heart-shaped card isn't some cheap and flimsy thing, I even think it has some UV process applied. The inner box unfolds to reveal an envelope with all of the verification information inside, then you lift that out to reveal a quality jewelry box with the earrings inside. At first, I was impressed that each earring came with its own certification number, then after closer inspection, I realized that once you take the earrings out of the individual bags there's no way to tell them apart. There is a 4-digit number engraved on the arch of each earring, which must be the item number because they are both the same number. My point? Well, if you lose or damage one, the only way to know which one is to take the to a jeweler. If you are going to etch a number into each earring, why wouldn't they go the next step and make it the last 4 of the certificate number? As I said in the review title, the gems or Moissanites look awesome! Also, because they are made in a lab, you are guaranteed that no one was harmed trying to mine them and the making of them is a lot less harsh on the environment and planet. It doesn't say anywhere that these were made with captured carbon (which means prevented from going into the atmosphere from a factory or such), so I have to take that as meaning that these are just manufactured. The actual earrings or setting is why I gave these only 3-stars. They look plastic and not like anything else gold that we have. My wife grabbed all of her jewelry boxes and compared them to solid gold and gold coated like these earrings, and none of her other stuff looked like these. She wore them to work and when she came home without them in her ears, she began telling me how she took them out at lunch because other people were commenting on the setting and asking her why she would waste the money on "diamonds" only to put them in a cheap setting.
