I have purchased multiple sets of these plugs. Best feature is that they are very easy to set up and link to Alexa. Once one is programmed, the next automatically links to Wi-Fi and Alexa. Great to be able to turn on lights at random times from Alexa app when not at home for security. I have another brand that is not at all intuitive and takes multiple attempts to set up successfully. I also bought a set for my sister who was mobility limited after a fall. It allowed her to turn on/off lights without getting up, or before getting out of bed at night for safety. This is a great product. It works very well and was fairly easy to set up after some initial issues trying to scan the QR code. My difficulties with the code are the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars. Also, the app icon is different from the icon on the box, so I was confused as to whether I had the right Smart Life app because the QR code did not work for me. Read more

My internet provider recently upgraded me to a new router, which is technically a much better model, but the new model operates on a 'random' 2.4 or 5 Ghz frequency. According to my provider, it 'automatically detects when to switch between the 2.4 and 5'. I find this somewhat interesting, as I always believed the difference between the two is that 2.4 is slower speed but much better range, 5 is super fast, but shorter distance. How on earth is the router going to know when I need to switch between those two? I have a relatively large property , I'm not a real high-speed junky and therefore prefer 2.4, so I can connect devices at a bigger distance. But maybe it will all work in the end. Problem I have though... is that most of my smart plugs are only capable of working on the 2.4 bandwidth. And as the default preferred mode of the new router seems to be 5Ghz, I simply cannot connect them anymore, as there is no way to 'fix' the bandwidth anymore. This is where these 'Eightree Smart Plug for 5GHz & 2.4GH' come in. After a bit of research, I learned that a lot of 'similar' (and cheaper!) plugs don't actually use WiFi, but Bluetooth. Which is great for short distances. But average bluetooth range is somewhere around 33 feet. Not a lot, especially if you factor in walls and other obstructions. And certainly not enough for my situation. So if you're looking for a true WiFi option, there's just not that many options out there, unless you want to invest serious money. But these plugs are true Wifi, can handle both 2.4 and 5 Ghz and are really not that expensive. One more selling point: ease of installation. Wow. Really wow. Maybe it's because I already had the Smart Life app installed (and am very familiar with how it works). But all I had to do: 1) Plug in the smart plug into an outlet 2) Open up the Smart Life app 3) Confirm the new device. The app and plug automatically recognized each other without any interaction from me. Love these plugs. Defo recco to buy. Now I just would love for 5Ghz to extend its range!!
