I ordered this product under the Amazon Vine program, where one receives the product for free but then (in the USA) has to pay income tax on the price of the product. In return, we try to write unbiased reviews of those products. The seemingly still rather unique feature of this toothbrush charger is that it claims to support multiple different toothbrush brands: Aquasonic, Philips, Oral-B – and maybe others. I browsed a bit on Amazon and indeed could not find alternative products that claim such universal support. If you have toothbrushes from different brands at home, this charger might be a great way to declutter and replace multiple chargers with just one. We only have the "Oral-B 1000 Pro" and "Oral-B 1 Pro" at home. This charger charges both of them fine overnight, but I cannot say anything about toothbrushes from other brands. In return for the flexibility to support multiple brands, the inductive knob on the charger is smaller than the original Oral-B charger knob. As a result, the charger does not stabilize the toothbrush well when it's placed on it. If you bump the toothbrush while it’s on the charger, it will easily tip over. So make sure you position it somewhere out of the way to avoid this. I measured the current drawn by the charger with a PZEM-018 wattmeter (B07QQBSSYC). It uses 0.72W without a toothbrush and 0.82W with a toothbrush. My 20-year-old Oral-B charger used 2W, and the latest Oral-B charger I have uses 1.22W. Only the official 110/230V Oral-B charger uses as little as 0.72W without a toothbrush, but 1.35W with a toothbrush inserted. If you're replacing the old model Oral-B charger, this new charger will pay for itself in less than 2 years via electricity savings. With the newest Oral-B charger, it takes almost 10 years. The charger even works with 230V, so it can be used as a travel charger overseas (I have a transformer for testing at home), and then it uses 0.94W. 230V is not described as supported, so you're on your own if it actually breaks. But typically, devices not actually working for that voltage would use double the power. Read more
I chose this item because it stated that it would charge the 7AM2M line of sonic toothbrushes that I have. I can say that it indeed did charge the brush fully and I like the fact that it is corded to plug right in to the wall outlet without the need for me to go and find a USB charging block as other chargers are. The only drawback I noticed is that the flashing charging light never went to solid once fully charged using this base. The original charger would flash while charging and then go solid once fully charged. Either way this seems to be a good product and if you simply time your charge you can still charge the battery and remove the brush from the charger base in 4-5 hours. Read more
