The media could not be loaded. It is very, very quiet and extremely smooth operating. The sensor activates at about 6 inches away, (I measured). A perfect hight for next to my queen sized bed which was my main concern, whether it would be the right hight for ease of reach. I also like that it has touch sensitive open and close buttons that keep the lid open until you push close. Another function that I find helpful is that it will keep the countdown timer at maximum 5 as long as your hand is in its detection field and as soon as you move away, the timer resumes and counts from 5 to 0 before it closes the lid. It did not come with 3 AA batteries. I bought a small charger that came with 4 Energizer rechargeable batteries and an extra 4 pack so that I could keep charged batteries in it at all times, probably overkill considering the unit couldn't use much power. I purchased this trash can in the beginning of February 2024 and it is the best trash can that I have owned in my 46 years of marriage. I am so surprised by how much a trash can is making me happy. It is the perfect size to fit into my coffee bar area without being obtrusive while still holding a large enough amount of trash. The only issue I have with it is that the first set of batteries just dies, lasting far longer than I expected them to, a couple of days ago and after replacing them, the automatic lid does not always lift on the first try. It is still usable, annoying as it is. I am wondering how many other lids of this trash can have done this and maybe is there a possible fix for it? This set up very easily, fits right into the space I have for it, and the motion sensor has worked very well in the two months I have had it. It was shipped quickly and arrived in good condition. The bags included with it work well, but I thought I'd be able to use my existing 13 gallon trash bags in it, and they don't fit over the frame, so I will have to up-size. Read more

This actually is a very good product, what confused me at the beginning was that there is an inner liner inside the can and that always cut the bags. I see no real use of the inner liner so I removed it. I was wondering why the manufacturer would design the product like this so I came back to look at the description, and there it is the first paragraph of the description asking the users to remove the inner liner before use. Then I saw a bunch of one-star rating all complaining about the bags being cut. My suggestions to the manufacturer, put a label on top of the can remind users to remove the inner liner or just remove it completely. Read more

What I liked: Hands-free lid - works well and keeps the trash out of sight. Looks nice - the square shape is compact and fits in a very tight space. What I don't like: The battery compartment/holder is very confusing - difficult to get the batteries in correctly. Also, the entire thing fell INTO the trash and we accidentally threw it out. Lovely. I hard-wired it with a USB cord and connected it to a USB outlet - that fixes that. The other big (critically bad) flaw: there's a lip along the top of the bin that catches and tears the bag when one removes it on trash day. Nothing like having to pick up trash that spills out thanks to a poor design/poor manufacturing process. I'm still trying to figure out a "best" solution for this... I think it's going to involved duct-taping the lip. Overall, for the price, very disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Read more

We still use it today but the motor worked too well, it broke the plastic around the hinge joint. It is duck taped for continued use now. We removed the black insert. (I believe this that was for sensory purposes so it would open if you tapped the outside of the trashcan with your foot); however, the black plastic insert kept ripping up our trash bags so it was removed. At first I thought it might be to small but Not! I really like this can and it works great (only had it 3-4 months). It has no inside plastic can (which is a waste of more plastic) and a clever way to attach new bags inside! The only caution I would say is the location. Ours is in a tight area and can open close with loose colthing etc. It was stuck open once with a dish towel dropped on it and batts will wear out.
