I got this voice activated wall plug because the last time we had a power outage all of our smart thing stopped working because the Internet went down. This plug is super easy to use and super easy to understand. The only thing I’ll say is that you do have to speak up to make sure I can hear you if it’s buried behind a dresser on the ground like mine is. It’s just a plug interrupter you plug it into the wall outlet and then you plug your appliance in it. Just add a couple of inches of thickness to where it plugs in at the wall. It’s very inconspicuous. There’s a little blue light on it. That lights up when it hears its name and I think the light stays on when it’s on also. The instruction show you how to have up to four of them in the same space. I think they call it Room but really it’s the same earshot. You can’t customize the name like I had hoped I was gonna make it say something funny to annoy my wife, but either way it works. The media could not be loaded. I love trying out new tech because while this item does work as intended and as advertised, it is going to be somewhat limited to the types of items you can use it for. Voice control - super simple. Anyone can use this. I put it in the socket and said "Hey Emerson, turn on plug" and the plug was then powered. I told it to turn it off, it powered it off. It powered off the plug as well as the item plugged into it. No set up, no voice recognition, grandpa wants to turn out his lamp across the room, it's done. But can he turn it back on? Here is where we reach the limitations. I tried using this with a fan I almost always wind up turning on/off/on/off during the night to cool my room down, but it get's too cool, then too hot... I lost the remote. So my intention was to use this plug to control this fan, with my voice, to turn it on and off during the night. The power switch for this fan in a push button led style, and it is either on or off, and then I have 6 modes to choose from. So the reason this plug won't work for this item is because if you pull the plug on this fan, it goes off. If you plug it back in...it's still off. It's got an electronic control panel. These panels will typical power off and NOT reset to the last mode when they are plugged back in. So for any item that will not resume what it was doing before you pulled it's plug? This will not work. So here is where the limitations of this item are met. Anything with an electronic control panel that will not default back to the setting it was using before power was lost to the item will not be able to be turned back on. But you can shut it off by "pulling it's plug" when you say "Hey Emerson, turn off plug". You just can't turn it back on. While the plug itself is powered up, the item plugged into it still needs you to manually touch the control panel to resume it's function. Keep this in mind when you buy this item. While the design is excellent, the quality of the product as well as the instructions (super easy and it does have a timer function) are excellent, there should be clarification to the limitations it will encounter when used in conjunction with many modern day electronics.
