We’re very glad we bought the Epic pitcher. Water tastes great. Our previous Zero Water pitcher worked but the water was flat tasting and fine for cooking but not especially for drinking. The Epic filter keeps the minerals but takes out the chemicals and toxins leaving great tasting water. The bamboo handle is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The 90 day countdown meter is a useful feature we appreciate. Read more
The lid on this pitcher is garbage. It falls off at least 50% of the time while you're pouring (even when you follow the instructions to try to keep it from doing so ... though the fact that they had to add special instructions about how to keep the lid on is a bad sign to begin with). It even falls off when you're just putting the darn thing into the fridge! Even worse, the tiny cover on the pour spout only opens about 20% of the time. In other words, when the dang lid does stay on, the water piddles out down the side of the pitcher as much as it pours, spilling water all over. Moreover, the pop-up flap where you fill the pitcher only stays up about 20% of the time, flopping closed as you fill it. Worst. Design. Ever. Not only is it wasteful and messy, it's bloody annoying. Brita has been making functional pitchers for their cheap, wimpy filters for years. You'd think you could get at least a basic pitcher with a quality filter like Epic. This is an $84 piece of junk. The Epic filter, however, was fantastic. My water was not just potable, it actually tasted great! I'll look into the other pitcher design. Maybe it's better? Read more
I really loved this water pitcher. The taste is clean, crisp, and you can definitely tell the filter is high quality. It’s easy to use, and the design is great for families. However, my family and I drink a lot of water, which means we have to replace the filter much sooner than the recommended 90 days. After about 45 days of regular use, the filter starts slowing down and can take up to an hour just to filter a full pitcher. The filtration still works, but the wait time becomes very long. The only downside is the cost. At around $50 per replacement filter, having to change them more often gets expensive. It is a really good pitcher with excellent water quality; just be prepared for more frequent filter changes if you drink a lot of water. Read more
Wow – I've been using the Epic water pitcher and filter for about two days now. I am amazed how quickly I have water that doesn't taste over-chemicalized. I just moved into my current house, and one of the first things I noticed is how bad the water tastes. The chlorine and other chemicals were over-powering to me. I almost always cannot drink tap water no matter where I live (I think that I must have a sensitive sense of taste). I had been buying gallon jugs of distilled water for several years, but that gets really tiring. I decided to try this pitcher and filter system. With my first glass, all the "yeck" taste was gone – and I mean ALL of it. I noticed that someone had said that it took so long to filter. My pitcher filters within minutes. Try smaller amounts of water at a time. It's so quick that I decided to only use this water for my three cats and three dogs as well as for me. I have a pitcher that I keep in the refrigerator for cold water that I created from my Epic filter system. I am very grateful that I found the Epic water pitcher and filter system. This is an excellent solution for me. I am super satisfied with this purchase. Read more
The media could not be loaded. I like it so far. The documentation that comes with the pitcher seems to cover all of the issues that other reviews have complained about, so do read the little booklet that is included. One point of confusion for me was the documentation says the Pure filter is white with THREE holes in the top, and the Nano filter is grey with ONE hole. The filter I received is white, with one hole. Customer service verified that Epic modified the design and that I did have the Pure filter, which I preferred instead of the Nano. I've been drinking bottled spring water for years, so I don't even know what our unfiltered tap water tastes like, but the Epic filtered water seems to feel smooth when I drink it, which sounds weird that water has a "feel", but that's the first think I thought. I guess I'm not used to whatever minerals remains after filtering, but it seems fine to me. The pitcher works well. The water seems to pass through the filter in a reasonable amount of time (see video), and when I pour it, the little flap lifts itself just fine, and there are no dribbles or messes like some other reviews have complained about. Make sure that the reservoir is placed in the pitcher correctly - this is mentioned in the booklet - and I did put it in wrong myself initially, which will cause the lid to not fit correctly. When it is installed correctly, the lid snugs down on the pitcher securely. As a 68 y.o. woman, I find the handle comfortable to hold and pour with the pitcher full. I also like how the little tab on the flip up lid is kind of rubbery feeling so it holds the lid up out of the way when the reservoir is filling (see picture). I like that the Pure filter lasts for 150 gallons. That should be around 5 months based on how much water I drink and cook with, so it will be cost effective as it is just for me, and I like that it also filters flouride along with the other long list of nasties that I don't want to ingest. This pitcher seems to be a good balance of function and price compared to other options. Read more
