Unfortunately, there are several bad reviews for this product. Perhaps the problems are the result of sample defects or rough shipping. Too bad, because the Escali B180RC meets all my expectations. I ordered it just a few days ago to replace an aged Taylor mechanical dial-style scale that couldn't give the same reading twice in a row. I'd need to weigh myself five or six times and average them, triangulating with the balance beam scale at the gym. I selected the Escali based on Consumer Reports' review (I'm a member) and a few other reports found on the internet. I sought a simple scale, reporting only weight, not twenty other measures that can't possibly be reliably measured by standing on a scale. I'm skeptical of other products' "body fat" and "water content" claims. I've had body fat estimated accurately by a professional. It required 15 minutes of making various measurements and plugging them into a software package. To think one can do the same by standing on a $33 bathroom scale is ludicrous. Hence, none of the bathroom scale selections at Costco, Target, or other local stores were for me. Simply stated, the Escali fits the bill. It's simple. Only body weight. Step on the scale, it turns on, takes a few seconds to stabilize, reports the weight digitally, and displays it for a few moments after you step off the scale so you can read it. Display is not backlit, but that might be an advantage in battery life. Numbers are quite big and readable, reporting weight to the nearest 0.2 lb. or 0.1 kg. The scale is handsome. It is consistent. I mounted and unmounted numerous times, in several locations, and it reported the same weight. I've never been able to do that except with a balance beam scale! The only exception was when one of the scale's feet was straddling the edge of a tile. I've not got a mass standard to determine accuracy, but it reports my weight consistently with my averaged mechanical-dial scale and a weigh-in this afternoon on my gym's balance beam scale. I'm satisfied. Thanks. Read more

I was concerned about ordering this particular scale after reading the other review. We recently read in Good Housekeeping that they rated it as #2 in accuracy so we decided to take a chance and buy it any way. I'm glad that we did! The scale we were replacing was a disaster and we called it our BOOT scale. BOOT meaning Best Out Of Three. It never weighed the same twice so we always took the best weight out of three and lived with this quirk for too many years. After reading the article in Good Housekeeping, we decided to "upgrade." Both of us weighed ourselves numerous times and got the same weight displayed every single time. It never varied in the least. There is no back light but the 6 second hold allows even big foot ample time to step off and see the weight. I'm sorry the other reviewer had such a bad experience but very glad that we had the opposite experience with the same scale. We both recommend this scale for it's accuracy and sleek good looks. Pretty enough to leave on the bathroom floor instead of hiding it in the closet. The price was the lowest we found and the free shipping really added to our savings. And...the scale comes with a five year warranty. Now that's just the frosting on the cake!! Read more

I've had this for about 1.5 years now and it's worked well. I just replaced the battery for the first time--1.5 years on a single battery is pretty good, I think. The scale is generally accurate. Last time I went to the doctor, the doctor's scale had me about 2-ish pounds heavier than this did, which is fine for me--I don't need it much more accurate than that since I just want to track my weight and it goes up/down/holds steady in general, a couple pounds difference doesn't matter to me (and hey, the different could partially have been due to clothing or something else, too). It's easy to use, is stable on the floor, easy to understand, and I remain happy with my purchase. Read more

It's an attractive, compact scale that seems accurate. I have to move it to use it, but it always reads the same on the second try as the first, so I've been ignoring the direction to weigh twice after the scale is moved. My only complaint is that the battery failed after only five months use, and I expect lithium coin batteries to last longer than that. Read more

I rarely write reviews, but am very impressed by the warranty. Bought in 2022, liked the round shape, it worked great for 3.5 years (I think I might have changed a battery once). Stated giving me an error message a week ago. I was going to buy a replacement, but saw a mention of 5 year warranty. Emailed the company, really not hoping for anything:) - got response within hours, emailed them a picture of the scale and initial amazon order confirmation, and today, 6 days later, got my brand new replacement! That's a way to build brand loyalty! Read more

This Escali scale tells the exact amount you weigh...every time. I'm the type that gets on a scale two or three times before deciding what my weight is, because it's usually a half pound, or even a pound, off each time. Not with this scale! This is precise...and it doesn't falter! Read more

I was so disappointed as i love the design and styling and ease of reading, However, there was as much as a 4 pound difference when I used it in consecutive trials on various places of my hardwood floor. The batteries were completely new, our floor is good quality and level. This is a great brand, I hope they get this issue resolved! I returned mine. Read more
