Excellent espresso at home – great for black coffee lovers, desserts, and real savings
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using this espresso machine every day (sometimes twice a day), and it has completely changed how I drink coffee at home. This is my first espresso machine, and it’s very beginner-friendly while still delivering excellent results. I mostly drink black coffee / espresso. I grew up using a traditional stovetop greca (very common in Dominican and Puerto Rican households). While I love the tradition, the flavor doesn’t compare. With this machine, I get a rich, smooth espresso with natural crema/foam, even using pre-ground coffee. The taste is honestly as good as — or better than — Starbucks. I mainly use the Americano (large cup) mode and found my sweet spot around 60 seconds, even though the default setting is longer. Once you dial in your timing, the results are consistently great. The machine heats up quickly and brews fast — everything is ready in under two minutes, which is much faster and cleaner than using the stove. At first, I noticed some water left in the coffee grounds after brewing. After reading the instructions and adjusting how full I packed and tamped the basket, it improved a lot. I’ve also seen some negative reviews mention this, but in practice it’s more of a behind-the-scenes detail than a performance issue. With home espresso machines at this level, some moisture in the basket can happen due to how pressure and extraction work, especially with pre-ground coffee. What matters is that it does not affect the final result — the espresso still comes out rich, smooth, and creamy with great foam. I’ve tested it with Casa Grande Espresso (ground) and consistently get great flavor and crema. I’ve also used: • The hot water feature (works perfectly) • The steam wand (I don’t drink milk coffee, but it froths hot milk well for my daughter’s hot cocoa) One bonus I didn’t expect is how useful this machine is for desserts. I don’t like instant coffee and prefer to control sugar in my food. I added a single shot of espresso to plain Greek yogurt, whipped it until creamy, and topped it with fruit and granola — it tasted even better than store-bought coffee yogurt. My daughter added a shot to her yogurt with a little Nutella, and it was a hit. This machine would also be perfect for desserts like tiramisu, flan, or any recipe that needs real espresso, not instant coffee. The machine itself is: • Compact and modern • Easy to clean • Quiet (the sound is brief and not disruptive) • Easy to refill (removable water reservoir — I use filtered water) Value-wise, this machine paid for itself fast. In just one week, the amount of coffee I made at home equals (or exceeds) what I would have spent at Starbucks. I’ve already gotten my money’s worth, and now every cup after that is savings. If you’re a beginner, a black coffee or espresso drinker, or someone who wants great coffee at home without spending café-level money, this machine is absolutely worth it. I would buy it again and recommend it without hesitation. Disclosure: I was not paid for this review and did not receive this product for free. This is my honest personal experience. I’m a DIY mom who’s always looking for ways to enjoy great quality at home while still saving money, and this machine delivered exactly that. Read more
