Plugged this into my computer and it did not recognize the drive. I contacted the retailer and they sent me another one since they have a year warranty. After receiving a new one, I plugged it in and it seemed to be working. The next time I put a cd in, my computer "again" does not recognize it. I contacted the retailer and got no response this time. I guess this is another "you get what you pay for". This seemed to get ratings, but I'm not sure why. Read more
My laptops doesn't have an optical drive and this drive works perfectly. It’s incredibly silent, which is a big plus when working in a quiet environment. The drive loads and transfers information very quickly, making it efficient for burning CDs or watching DVDs. This portable optical drive can be easily moved from one room to another, and plugged into any of the computers, to play DVDs, or load data from a CD, or burn some new backup data. Easy plug & play, and I have no personal need to mess with DVD region settings. The drive unit also includes SD card reader slots, which is a cool feature but I probably don't have a use for them to be integrated into my optical drive (I already have a card reader adapter). I know how to update drivers and registry but this didn’t work either. I gave up. Later I tried an app that that claimed to search and update drivers for all devices. This worked. I think the problem is that the laptop does not have a built in drive of this type so it was missing drivers needed. The app requires a monthly use fee, so far I have avoided paying that. The player is now working as needed. Read more
