Thick and Comfortable
I currently use an ONLYHE 8mm yoga mat, and I’ve been very happy with its comfort and durability. When I was offered a chance to try this 12mm mat, I jumped at the chance to enjoy a bit more cushion because I’m a senior. It arrived coiled tightly, and it takes a while to uncurl the tightest end completely, but it flattens quickly with some weight on it. It’s comprised of two sections adhered together. The top and bottom layers are the same thickness, with the top being slightly softer than the bottom. It has a very faint texture on the top that makes my footing steady while exercising barefoot. The bottom has a stronger textured pattern to make it non-skid on the floor or carpet. The carrying strap is a clever design, with two loops made of wide elastic to slide over the ends of the mat, plus a sturdy nylon webbing handle in between. The elastic stretches enough that you don’t have to coil the mat as tightly as when it arrived. That will be helpful if you’re toting the mat to a yoga/pilates class, and want it to flatten there. I only exercise at home, so I simply slide it under the bed (flat) when not in use. The mat has a very slight plastic odor if you bury your nose in it, but it’s not at all perceptible while sitting or lying on it. I really notice the difference in thickness/cushioning with this 12mm mat (vs. their 8mm) especially on my backbone, so it’s worth the few dollars difference to me. This ONLYHE yoga mat is priced competitively with other mats at around $57. There’s currently a coupon making it only $42.74 which is a steal for the quality. The foam is exceptionally comfortable and poke/tear-resistant, and a worthy investment for years of use. Read more
