Good microwave so far. Template to install could be better. You will not be able to put full size items in here like a regular microwave (which is fine for us). Exhaust fan is VERY loud. As far as heating/reheating it works great. We had specific size constraints and looked at many different microwaves and ended up picking this one. Good price for the speciality of it. A brand-new Farberware Over The Range Microwave Oven Model FMR17SS was purchased and shipped to Grand Cayman. The unit arrived fine and was installed by following the instructions to a tee. Taking advantage of the vertical duct from a previous installation, the microwave blower for outside top exhaust was adapted. Immediately after powering up the microwave for the first time, it has not worked properly. Here are the symptoms: Plug into the power outlet and the interior light comes on and the blower starts. When the door is open the blower is off, and when the door is closed the blower is on. The touchpad cannot be used with the door open. The clock can be set with the door closed, but the microwave cannot be started. After entering any amount of time, the indicator says Enter Start, but it won’t accept the Start button touch. Any action requiring the Start button will not work. The blower does not shut off when the door is closed. Unplugging the unit is the only way to stop the blower with the door shut. Farberware Customer Service responded with, "Sorry to hear this. We do not have repair centers. I am so sorry. You can see if a local appliance repair can see if they can fix it." Read more

Had the unit installed for about a week now. Pros: The unit works as expected..... heats food well. Looks nice. Is much more quiet when running than my last one. Came well packaged with no damage. Can adjust the sound level for the "beep" it makes when heating cycle is finished or turn it off completely. Cons: Touchscreen is very dark so it's difficult to see the numbers and settings without an external light on. Should be backlit. Fan has 2 speeds but light for range only has one brightness level .... dim. Light inside cooking area is quite dim as well. It's a cheap microwave compared to competitors and has a cheap feel when opening and closing the door. Read more
