I loved Bill Monroe, "Father of Bluegrass", I've watched it many times and don't get tired of it. Having John Hartford and a young Del McCoury on it was a plus! I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys classic bluegrass and Bill Monroe, it keeps him and his wonderful music alive in our hearts. His high lonesome songs to his jigs that make you feel like dancing are entertaining. I regret that I never got to see him perform in person! Read more
This dvd Bill Monroe, Father of Bluegrass, found very interesting / informative on the history of his life & his influence on music. With interviews by previous band members & others that knew him really made it special, plus with all the songs that were performed. Also along with this, the dvd High Lonesome, great to have also on the beginning of country / bluegrass music. Read more

I learned things about the father of bluegrass that I did not know before. Also, there are some great interviews with many of his former band members as well as Marty Stuart and Ricky Skaggs. You won't be able to find this kind of Bill Monroe footage in another production. Of course, I'm just saying that. It's not like I've watched EVERYTHING out there on Monroe. Still, I've watched this documentary three times since I purchased it a couple of weeks ago. Read more
Very good documentary on Bill Monroe. I've just fallen in love with bluegrass in the last six months and picked up a Mando three months ago. I've been guitarist for 20 something years... Really enjoyed the footage and interviews. Would recommend watching this for any bluegrass fan. Read more
I regret that I came to love bluegrass music after the death of Bill Monroe, I would have so loved to see him live in concert. This DVD helped me understand what it would have been like to see him in concert, as well as to sit down on the porch swing and talk to him for awhile. This DVD was great, wish there were more bluegrass DVDs available. Read more
