Quick to Connect and Very Reliable for Everyday Use
Summary: Quick to set up, very reliable, and works smoothly with the Feit app and automatically connects to Alexa and works great once connected to 2.4 GHz WiFi. Smart Device WiFi Setup: The one thing to be aware of is that this plug works best on a properly configured 2.4 GHz WiFi network. If your router combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into one network, you may need to split the bands so you can connect the plug specifically to 2.4 GHz. In most routers, this is found in the WiFi or Wireless settings section of the router app or web dashboard. I also had to confirm the security was set to WPA2 and adjust the 2.4 GHz advanced settings so the connection stayed stable, including locking the channel bandwidth to 20 MHz instead of auto. These options are usually located under Advanced WiFi or Advanced Wireless settings. Once those settings were adjusted, the plug has worked flawlessly without disconnects. I’m not a tech support person, and once I knew which settings to look for, the fix was straightforward. I personally used ChatGPT as a guide to understand which settings to change and where to find them. Full Review: I set up this smart plug in our living room, and the entire setup process only took a few minutes. After plugging it in, I pressed the small button on the side to start pairing, and the Feit Electric app recognized it right away. It connected quickly and synced immediately with my other Feit devices. Alexa picked it up automatically, and voice control was ready to use within a day. I really like that the app shows clear on and off status updates and allows me to check the plug remotely. Even when it’s tucked behind furniture, the connection has stayed stable and responsive. I’m currently using these plugs for several everyday and seasonal items, including a white noise machine, a living room candle warmer, and a holiday tree. For the white noise machine, I have it scheduled to turn off automatically in the morning before my 13 year old’s alarms go off, and it works consistently without needing adjustments. For the holiday tree, I use an Alexa routine to turn the lights on at sundown and turn them off at a time when we’re typically all in bed, which has been very convenient and reliable throughout the season. When a plug isn’t in use seasonally, I store it in a safe place to avoid extreme humidity or temperature changes, so weather shifts don’t affect it between uses. Each time I plug it back in, it reconnects and works as expected. Overall, I love these smart plugs. They’re simple, dependable, and make both daily routines and seasonal setups much easier to manage. As long as your WiFi is set up correctly, they’re a great value, and I would absolutely buy more as we continue adding smart features around the house. Update 1/8/26: After switching to AT&T internet, I found that using the same 2.4 GHz WiFi name and password as the previous router makes for a seamless transition, since the plugs can reconnect automatically without needing to be reset. In my case, I enabled the Guest WiFi network in the AT&T router’s advanced WiFi settings and renamed it to match the 2.4 GHz WiFi name my smart devices were already using. I also increased the allowed number of devices. All of my existing plugs connected automatically, and after completing the setup to reconnect the one plug I had disconnected, it was back online in seconds. If you’re not comfortable changing router settings, AT&T support can assist. Read more
