Super thick acrylic and the top than I thought and the top layer is very very heavy. It's extremely easy to assemble and it looks so modern. I purchased low profile acrylic trays to be put in the bottom two layers so that I can easily organize my things and also be able to pull the trays out to see my things whenever I needed like drawers. Just make sure you measure the height of your stand and check if the trays / containers are much shorter. The trays I got have 1" height and it's perfect. GAME CHANGER! I’m usually too lazy or self absorbed to give feedback on my Amazon purchases but after I set this bad boy up I had to run here to give big kudos to the manufactures/designers/architects for this monitor stand. I was a little pissed off when I opened the heavy package to discover that I had to build this thing myself but the instructions were super easy, the materials are excellent quality, and these guys even gave a extra screws for clumsies like myself in case I lost one in the process. I can’t thank you guys enough. It’s heavy super sturdy weight. (I’m a woman and using an electric screwdriver is prestine but not required as they included tools.). Cheers to you 🥂!! I am very pleased with this item overall. Let me cut to the chase, the only reason I didn't give it five stars is because some of the joints were a little faulty and it caused the area to be a little wobbly...however, once put together, overall it seems very sturdy. It's a very aesthetically pleasing looking item and goes perfectly with my white desk. The sizing was exactly as described. Super easy to put together, well packaged upon arrival.
