it's better than most but i do wish the bar had better grips. they are durable grips but a little oversized. the bar itself is the standard diameter but the grips make it too thick; it would be better if the grips were the same diameter as the bar. the grip material while durable is not the most grippy either - i use (Element 26 IsoGrip Hand Grips) and they give me the extra grip i need for this bar, although i would prefer not needing to use such grips. other than the grips its perfect. This is the rare case of "you get what you pay for" scenario. It's not cheap but this is a damn good pull up bar - the best you'll ever own in a residential setting. Extremely sturdy and heavy gauge. I picked this up to add weighted pull ups to my routine without pushing the door-jam style pull-up bars to the limit (I'm already 195lbs). Not the easiest thing to install because of the weight but you don't feel any hesitation once it's up and you're hanging from it. Having the extenders is also a very welcome touch. I'd recommend this for anyone who does the "home gym" approach and can already rep out 8 to 10 pull-ups per set. The ability to add a weight plate/dumbbell between the legs is a huge advantage. This thing is solid. No wiggle at all. It feels like it was welded to the I-Beam. I am 300 pounds and this pull up bar does not move when I hang on it. Installation took 15 minutes, only tool needed is a 9/16 inch socket and ratchet. I would recommend it. Read more
