So far so good
So far so good. It does look OEM and professionally done. It really is as simple as the video shows. The only challenge was getting the rear camera cable through the OEM grommet in the trunk door so it wouldn't be hanging out. With a little patience it can be done! Hope the company and dash cam goes the distance and keeps updating their app for the life of this car. Read more
Alternative way to install the back camera
For the front camera, Like the other reviewers mentioned, (at least for Lexus tx) you need to cut a piece of the plastic molding in order to install it. It’s not very hard to cut but does require some patience in order to cut it clean. For the rear camera, I followed the other reviewer’s way to route the wiring for the back camera through one of the rubber covering but eventually gave up after about an hour. Eventually I chose to cut the wire and fish it through the other rubber covering, without the connector it made the process so easy, it took a couple mins without any other tool to get it through the right side rubber. Then there are just 6 wires to re-wire together, they are all color coded and 22 or 24 wires. I have some heat shrinking wiring tubes(yellow part in the picture) that seals the connection well or you can use electrical tape. Read more
Handcraft modification required, not a perfect fit between all parts and new parts
Note, please read before you open the box and start installing. This module is supposed to use a mixture of new and old . However, there is a compatibility issue because new part comes in and it’s not really compatible with the old parts unless you make modifications. I had to make modifications with box cutters, and pliers on my old part to fit the new. In other words, this camera came in parts that’s incompatible. It was a difficult installation. So for those there are not or not willing to be technically in Toone this is not a product for you. Here are some photos of the modification. Tools require, electric filer, box cutter, plier. This is not a novice installation. Buyers beware. I installed it because I was too far gone to pull everything out. Or else I would not have chose this product either. Read more
