Bought a few of these for taking the Grandkids summer camping. Well made and just enough to keep you comfortable in late night, early morning summer temps. Since early 2016, I’ve journeyed far by bicycle, and given that motels are spaced for those traveling by automobile, not by bike, I camp two nights of three when on the road. Which is a lot of camping. About a month into the first long journey, I bought a sleeping-bag liner, not for warmth — I was still in the Deep South, and it was hot and humid — but to serve in place of my down sleeping bag, because it was too warm then for down. As I pedaled north in late summer, and the nights began to cool significantly, I needed the down bag and used the sleeping-bag liner to protect the expensive, hard-to-clean sleeping bag from me. I’m not able to shower at the end of every pedaling day, so… That original bag liner served me for years, but eventually became too threadbare for service. Plus, it was never ideal; it was sewn into a sleeping-bag format, and unlike my down bag, there was no zipper to open it, so it was a struggle to get my legs in and out. Worse, if my feet got too warm, I couldn’t open a zipper and hang them out to cool. So I searched for a replacement and noticed this option at about a third of the price I originally paid for that old, worn-out, disfunctional bag liner. Once I received this bag, I realized it is more than a bag liner; it is indeed its own sleeping bag, as well. I consider it a one-season sleeping bag and a three-season sleeping-bag liner. In warmer seasons, it’s all you’ll need to thwart pre-dawn chills, and in colder seasons, it’ll add significantly to the comfort limit of your main sleeping bag. The listing says it’ll reduce that lower limit by 12ºF, and I think that’s realistic, although 10º is even more so. As for using it alone down to 50ºF, my guess is it’s closer to 55º-60ºF, but I haven’t had an opportunity to test it at 50º, because it’s been much colder than that since I received mine. In either case, 10º-12ºF gets a 30º bag down to ~20º, and that’s a significant improvement when it’s 25º out and you’re the one in the bag. The plush fabric of this sleeping bag/liner feels good against skin, and I appreciate that the zipper allows me to open it entirely and use it as a lightweight blanket or shoulder wrap when seated. The zipper operates smoothly without snagging and feels durable, and there’s a hook-loop tab at the head end to protect the zipper when it’s fully closed. This liner includes a nice drawstring storage bag that measures about 10 inches by 5 inches when full, but that can be compressed much further in your pack. It smelled slightly like, well, new fabric, when I received mine, so I washed it before using it, and the mild odor was gone. Oh, and yeah, it looked as good after washing as it did before. I got this with intention of using this in conjunction with my camping hammock but it has become so much more. I am planning on getting a couple more. Not only have I used this with my hammock, I have used it as a travel blanket, and around the house out by the fire pit. This thing is super soft and very comfortable. It can be used as stand alone warm weather sleeping bag, a bag liner a camp blanket. The full zipper allows the bag to be zipped fully open. The zippers seem to be very good. The stitching is also top quality. After several uses I can find no issues with this bag. It comes with a stuff sack with a drawstring. It compresses down small enough to backpack with. The price point of these is good enough to get a couple of these. Keep with your camping gear, throw one in the vehicle, or just keep around the house for those chilly nights. Read more
