I recently ran across an old, very small, nearly empty tube of this in a travel toiletry bag I seldom use (since I seldom travel). Somehow I had forgotten about this product and had gotten into the habit of using others. Never again. I found it here and ordered it - and rediscovered why I used it so many years ago. This stuff is great -- not only for wounds, but for insect bites. Just a few minutes before sitting down to write this, I applied a little Foille's to a bite on my forearm that is about ½" across and was itching like _crazy_. Oh -- and when I say "a little," I do mean a little. I squeezed out a dot probably about the size of the head of a hat pin and it was more than I needed A little bit of this goes a long way. So, while a 1-ounce tube might not seem like much at first glance, believe me, it is enough for a lot of applications. Honestly, I expect this tube to last me a couple of years, bare minimum. It might last 5 or 10. As for today's results, minutes after applying it to the bite, itch gone. It is not odorless, which some people prefer, but I rather like the smell -- not only because I find it pleasant, but it reminds me that the Foille is still at work. Besides the product itself, I also like the packaging. It is the old-fashioned metal tube. I'm sure it's more expensive to make than the cheap plastic tubes everyone else has gone to. What's so great about the metal tube? You can see at a glance how much product is left in the tube. As you use the product by squeezing it out, the part you squeezed out remains flat. Also, you can roll it up from the bottom as you squeeze it, which makes it easier to be sure you're getting everything that you paid for. Kudos to Foille for keeping the customer first. For whatever reasons, so very many great products fall victim to savvy advertising by clever competitors with inferior products. I'm glad to see Foille has survived. I might go ahead and order a couple more tubes (which would probably be a lifetime supply), just in case... Read more
I've been using this stuff for years. Works so much better than Neosporin in my opinion. I also love that it has a slight numbing effect which helps reduce the soreness of cuts momentarily. Read more
Great product....really good for burns Read more
Best ointment I've ever used. I accidentally poured a pan of bacon grease on my hand, fresh off the stove, while on vacation. We knew there was a first aid kit in our newly purchased used vehicle. My husband ran to the car to see if there was anything in the kit to assist me. He found this ointment. The burn never scarred or blistered. We now put this ointment on everything! Cuts, burns, scrapes, bug bites. Clears up everything right away and prevents infection. I keep multiple tube's everywhere in the house (kids, ya know). Read more
Absolutely the best ointment hands down. Stopped pain on contact when stung by horse fly. After surgery used this on scar and it took away the nerve pain while healing Read more
Packaging has the same ingredients listed. I have used Foille since I was a young teen, over 50 years. Previously there's always been a small crystal like grittiness to the cream. Current tube the cream is much smoother and no crystals. Maybe a new manufacturing process? The fragrance is significantly less than usual. Also, Made in the USA has been dropped from the packaging. Currently Follie is owned by Blistex and I can not determine where it is being made. Makes me wonder if its actually the same cream. Read more
Foille Medicated First‑Aid Ointment is one of those old‑school products that still holds up. It’s simple, effective, and great to have on hand for minor cuts, scrapes, burns, and skin irritations. The formula goes on smoothly, doesn’t sting, and creates a protective barrier that helps wounds stay clean while easing discomfort. What I appreciate most is how quickly it soothes irritated skin. It has a gentle medicated feel without being greasy or overly scented, and a little goes a long way. The 1‑ounce tube is compact enough for a first‑aid kit, travel bag, or bathroom drawer, but still lasts a surprisingly long time. If you want a dependable, no‑frills ointment that does exactly what it promises, Foille is a great choice to keep stocked at home. --- If you want a shorter, more clinical, more humorous, or more dramatic version, I can rewrite it.
