I wanted to like this more than I do, but after using it I have some pretty significant reservations. The concept is fun and the ball material itself does feel decent, but unfortunately that's about where the positives end for me. My biggest issue is the build quality. The handle and retraction mechanism feel cheap, and the retraction itself is inconsistent — sometimes it works fine and other times it doesn't retract at all making it hard to use. For a training tool that relies heavily on that function, that's a real problem. The elastic string is also noticeably thin and I have genuine doubts about how long it will hold up with regular use. Something else worth mentioning is the size. The ball is much smaller than a real soccer ball, and honestly much smaller than the product photos would lead you to believe. It's also a foam ball rather than anything resembling an actual soccer ball, so don't expect it to replicate the feel of training with a real one. Putting it all together, the whole thing feels a bit gimmicky to me, and my biggest complaint is the price. For what you actually get — a small foam ball on a thin elastic string with an inconsistent retraction handle — I think it is significantly overpriced and not worth the money. If the price were much lower I might feel differently, but as it stands I can't give it more than 3 stars. Read more

This ended up being a lot of fun for my son and his friends. They had a great time kicking it around and trying to keep the rhythm going. It is a simple concept but it definitely keeps kids active and moving. Setup and assembly are very easy. It does not take much time to get it ready to use and once it is set up the kids can jump right in and start playing. The quality seems pretty good overall. The materials feel durable enough to handle repeated kicks and outdoor play. It has held up well so far without showing signs of breaking down. Ease of use is also good. It does not take long for kids to figure out how it works and they were able to start playing almost immediately. That said it does feel a little gimmicky compared to traditional soccer training tools. It is still fun, but it is more of a novelty activity than something I would consider serious training equipment. For the price it still offers decent value because it kept the kids entertained and active for a while. Overall it is a fun activity for kids and they definitely enjoyed it. Four stars from me. Initial Thoughts I purchased the Footbollen Kick Ball to spice up my at-home workout routine and help with some agility training. At first glance, it looks like a simple soccer ball on a string, but it’s actually a pretty clever piece of interactive equipment. It comes with a carrying bag, the ball assembly, and access to their app, which makes it feel like a more complete "system" rather than just a standalone toy. Build & Design The ball itself has a good weight and feel to it—not too heavy that it hurts your foot, but solid enough to give you good feedback when you make contact. The elastic cord is adjustable, which is crucial because you need to fine-tune the length based on your height and the type of drills you're doing. The "Interactive" Element What sets this apart from a standard tethered ball is the app integration. It’s designed to track your progress and provide drills that help improve: • Foot-Eye Coordination: You have to stay incredibly focused because the ball returns to you much faster than a regular soccer ball would. • Agility & Agility: Because the ball is on a bungee, it doesn't always come back in a straight line if your kick is slightly off, which forces you to adjust your feet quickly. • Ball Control: It's great for repetitive touch training without having to chase the ball across the yard. Performance for All Ages The listing says it’s for kids, teens, and adults, and I’d say that’s accurate. However, there is definitely a learning curve. If you’ve never used a tethered trainer before, you’re going to spend the first 15 minutes getting tangled or mistiming your kicks. Once you find your rhythm, though, it becomes a really intense cardio workout. Pros: • Convenience: Great for training in small spaces where you can't kick a full-sized ball around. • App Support: The digital component keeps you motivated and gives you specific goals to hit. • Durability: So far, the cord and the attachment points have held up well to some pretty hard kicks. Cons: • Tangle Factor: If you aren't careful with your footwork, the cord can occasionally wrap around your leg. • Surface Sensitivity: Best used on grass or a soft mat; I wouldn't recommend using it on rough concrete for long periods as it might scuff the ball quickly. The Bottom Line If you are looking to improve your soccer fundamentals or just want a fun, active way to burn some calories that isn't a treadmill, this is a solid investment. It’s much more engaging than a standard kick-back trainer and portable enough to take to the park. Read more
