Fresh Step Odor Shield Clumping Litter With Febreze Freshness 14 lb Box

I've been using Fresh Step for many years. And if you have multiple rescue cats, and you're on a budget...Fresh Step is the best! I've tried other brands, and they never held a candle to Fresh Step. It clumps the entire urine and feces without breaking up, so there are no annoying little pieces to scoop up. It contains the smell of both urine and feces because of the activated carbon in the litter absorbs and traps odors.. It also clumps diarrhea really well if your cat has a tummy issue. It tracks very little, but good litter mat will eliminate tracking litter on the floor. Above all else, my cats like it. When people come over for the first time, they don't know I have a cat until one of my kitties comes out to see who's there. I never have any litter box smells. The only downside is the dust. I bought a small air purifier on Amazon and put it next to the litter boxes. It helps cut the dust in the room down. I would still highly recommend Fresh Step though. I always buy the Odor Shield and the Gain scented one. In my opinion, they are the best with odors. I also buy a Febreze plug in refill for extra measure in the laundry room/cat room, so I have 0 smells. FYI- just because Fresh Step contains odors, doesn't mean you should be lax with cleaning the litter box/ boxes. I clean all mine several times a day. Hands down the best kitty litter ever made. It makes cleaning out the litter box a breeze. You can literally just scoop out the used litter anytime your fur babies use it. It doesn't clump into huge pieces causing, you to waste half the litter. With the fragrance of the litter it keeps the box smelling fresh at all times. Just got a cat & was looking to find our "normal" litter. The price 1st caught my attention and the promise of not smelling the cat waste made it worth the purchase. PROS: This is a very affordable product. Performs well. Definitely covers up the scent of cat waste (urine and fecal waste). Package is easy to open and dispense. The product clumps up the urine great! (This is the huge factor in continuing use.) Easy to scoop the waste out and not drop the litter on when emptying. Not a very dusty, which is also greatly appreciated. CONS: While we like the scent of Febreze on clothes and furniture, we do not like the scent of this product. Not really "Febreze" scent but more of a baking soda scent. However, it is very overpowering in the utility room where we keep the litter box. If we continue to use this product, we will seek out an air freshener to cover up the litter box scent. We aren't sold on this product but it is pretty good except for the overpowering scent. Honestly, I know you're supposed to change the cat litter out every so often, but with this I just scoop and go. I don't even have to bag it; I simply scoop it into the trash. I'm single so I don't generate a lot of trash, so I don't change the kitchen 13g bag out but maybe once a week, and I scoop my single cat's box once per day. At the end of the week, I can start to smell it, but it's an easy disposal after that. I haven't completely changed the box out in a long time because I don't have to. She still carries a little in her paws when she leaves the box, and I have a small rug out to catch as much as I can, so I sweep very little each day around the litter box. Overall, it genuinely keeps the smell down to nothing in the box, clumps about 95% of her litter, and I have to empty the main trash maybe once every 5-7 days. Read more

The Oder shield one is the best litter hands down out there. I have a huge litter box for my kitty and only have to change her litter every 3 days. And it still will not smell. My house NEVER has that cat smell which I have always been a worried about but I can’t lie when I say that everyone who comes into my house and sees I have a cat ALWAYS comments that my house and things do not smell gross like cat litter. Which is a huge compliment. My kitty loved the litter right when I put it in and had no trouble adapting to it. It does not track white marks at all after and does not get stuck to my cats paws as much as other litters so I only have a little bit of clean up right outside the box but that is as far as it goes.
