G-Shock GA-2100 Series Watch

I have to keep this at 5 stars because it really is a great watch despite the readability. Once you’ve gotten bored of your Swiss watches and want to wear something different for a day or two, it’ll probably be one of your favorites to wear. On readability, it’s not the best. I have to admit, I don’t know what I expected when the box came, but what a pleasant surprise. I was looking for a watch I could take kayaking and on nature hikes, but I didn’t want to spend more than $100 on it. It needed to have a rubber or synthetic band that handled water well and was easily able to try with a towel. The watch needed to be waterproof but also not complicated. The G-Shock series is typically a very busy watch face, and the cases are usually so large (49mm and above). I wanted something that was smaller for my medium-sized wrist. I wanted a simplified G-Shock, but different, and not obnoxious. I found it with this model. Overall, it’s a nice watch. It shows very well. I like the world time setting and just love watching the hands spin around when I select the city. It fits my wrist and isn’t too big or heavy. I think it is very clean looking and I didn’t expect to say “wow” out of the box. But the design harkens back to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak design, which is a dream look for most. This is why the watch is referred to as a “CasiOak”. I didn’t want a ton of little things to look at on the watch face so to me, looking down and checking the time is a real pleasure. There’s a day of the week and a time. Perfect. The light works well in the dark. The watch is made to be an activewear style watch so the material of the watch suits it’s ability to compete with products of the environment (water and dirt). So when I see these other comments that say things like "well the material feels cheap" or "the band is not what I thought", I don't know what other material they expected the watch to be made of. I’ll be honest I never liked a g shock watch because they were too bulky and “sporty” looking or in my opinion made you look immature or still in high school. (Again just my opinion) However, I needed something more durable for work and I want the analog hands for telling the time the way it should but it’s also helpful to glance at a digital display from time to time. This watch checked every one of my boxes on top of it being much slimmer and much more classy looking while still being comfortable and not flashy for day to day wear! I did replace the strap soon after as the stock strap was very grabby at my arm hair. Hands down my favorite edc watch in the rotation right now! Read more

The watch fit perfectly, quality is really good and it looks nice. Only cons I have is black on black is little hard to see and shipping box was bent, mangled and looked like it was wet at some point. Read more
